Mercedes-Benz has announced that it will launch the new V-Class in India on 3 March. While the first-gen iteration was launched in 2024, the upcoming iteration of this luxury MPV will be its second-gen update.
Exterior design highlights comprise the latest Mercedes grille, sliding second-row doors, diamond-cut alloy wheels, and a massive rear glass with vertical tail lamps. The automaker currently offers the van in an Exclusive trim, as well as an AMG Line trim. Inside, it is standard Mercedes fare, with elements like dual digital displays, three-spoke Mercedes steering wheel, and a floating centre console. A four-seat guise is standard, but we also expect an Exclusive package that comprises a four-seat layout with a swivelling second row.
The only engine on offer is expected to be the V220d, with the 2.0-litre, four-cylinder engine that produces 158bhp and 380Nm, and is mated to a nine-speed AT.
Much has changed since Mercedes first introduced the V-Class in India in 2019. The demand for luxury MPVs has gone up massively, and there are quite a few luxury options across a massive price range. This body style is very popular with the Bollywood and political fraternity. We expect it to be priced in the Rs. 1-1.5 crore bracket.
This V-Class is expected to set the ball rolling for the German automaker to bring in a more luxurious version, which will be the VLS in ICE and the VLE in EV guise. Officially, these vehicles will be launched in 2027, and they should come to India soon after.
