Mumbai Local Train 5-Hour Jumbo Block Today: What Borivali-Ram Mandir Commuters Must Know, Western Railways Guide

Western Railway is ready to undertake essential maintenance work on tracks, signalling systems and overhead equipment. To carry out the same, they will operate a five-hour-long jumbo block on Sunday, November 16. As per a statement shared by the Western Railway authorities, the block will be in effect from 10 AM to 3 PM.

The block will affect the Up Fast line between Borivali and Ram Mandir, and the Down Fast line between Ram Mandir and Goregaon. During the time period of the block, Up Fast trains will run on the Up Slow line between Borivali and Andheri, while Down Fast trains will run on the Down Slow line between Andheri and Goregaon.

The official X handle of Western Railway released the statement, stating, “To carry out maintenance work of tracks, signalling and overhead equipment, a Jumbo Block of five hours will be taken on Up Fast line between Borivali – Ram Mandir, as well as on Down Fast line between Ram Mandir – Goregaon stations from 10:00 hrs to 15:00 hrs on Sunday, 16th November, 2025." The press release was issued by the Chief Public Relations Officer of Western Railway, Vineet Abhishek.

Local Trains Will Be Cancelled Or Short-Terminated

Western Railway has also mentioned that several Up and Down local trains will be cancelled, and a bunch of Andheri and Borivali services on the Harbour Line will be short-terminated, or operated only up to Goregaon. The authorities have urged the passengers to check with station authorities for detailed updates on the services and plan their travel accordingly.

Western Railway Collected Over Rs 121 Crore In Fine From Ticketless Passengers

Meanwhile, Western Railway has reportedly collected Rs 121.67 crore in fines from ticketless passengers between April and October through intensive ticket-checking drives. The officials are conducting such drives on Mumbai suburban, Mail/Express, and holiday special trains. The amount is nearly 51 per cent higher than the same period last year and 14 per cent above the target, a railway official shared, as quoted by Mid-Day.

In October alone, fines worth Rs 24.20 crore were recovered in 3.39 lakh cases from passengers travelling ticketless or carrying unbooked luggage. Moreover, to prevent people from travelling on AC locals without a valid ticket, authorities have been conducting regular surprise checks. Between April and October, around 62,000 passengers were caught travelling without tickets on AC coaches.
