‘Mumbai Is Not For Beginners’: Scary Video Shows Commuters Clinging To Doors Of Overcrowded Local
Millions of people travel every day in Mumbai's local trains, which are the lifeline of the city. But during peak hours, the rush becomes so extreme that people are often seen hanging off the train doors or clinging to the sides, without worrying about their safety.
Such scenes are common across all lines, whether it's the Western, Central or Harbour line. Morning and evening rush hours are especially chaotic, with passengers jostling for space, often leaving little room to stand safely inside the compartments.
A video of the same has gone viral, where people can be seen desperately hanging onto the doors to reach their destination. The clip has been shared by a Reddit user with the caption, “Mumbai is not for beginners."

Social media reactions
People were quick enough to condemn this incident and some even shared their personal experiences.
The person revealed that back in 2014, their relative's son commuting from Mira Road to Churchgate died after his head hit a signal pole while hanging near the train gate. His mother was devastated and has never recovered from the loss. “Since then till date, his mom doesn't talk with anyone and always stays inside the house," the person wrote.
One user commented, “This ‘Mumbai is not for beginners' mentality is tanking us. We are accepting this as a Mumbai lifestyle rather than actually questioning at what point is it too much?"
Another added, “At this point is it even worth saving the 15-20 minutes of extra travel time? The risk ain't worth it."
“Too risky. Sweaty palms and loose grip. Take the next one mate," mentioned the next.
“This is common for all locals between 9 to 10, I've been there. If you're running late then you've no choice," commented another.
