Moto X70 Air Pro teased ahead of launch: What to expect from Motorola’s slim AI-focused smartphone

Moto X70 Air Pro teased ahead of launch: What to expect from Motorola’s slim AI-focused smartphone
Motorola has finally offered an official tease of the Moto X70 Air Pro, indicating that a new take on its slimline phone is coming soon. The teaser, published across Motorola's official channels in China, suggests a greater focus on AI features and heralds the handset as a direct upgrade over the regular Moto X70 Air. Leaked early specifications and certification listings indicate better charging speed and performance, and a release is probably just weeks away.
As per reports, the Moto X70 Air Pro is expected to initially launch in China, and it could happen as soon as January. The device is expected to carry a different name when it goes live in global markets, very likely starting with the Motorola Edge 70 Pro. That'd make sense, given that Motorola changed its strategy last year and gave all of us these Edge handsets instead of China-only versions.
The official teaser, which was shared on Weibo, describes the Moto X70 Air Pro as “more Pro” with “upgraded AI”. A second post suggests AI-assisted triple rear cameras with a periscope telephoto lens. If that turns out to be true, this would certainly make for a significant camera upgrade over the Moto X70 Air and further show Motorola's dedication to computational photography.
More information about the upcoming phone has been detailed by regulatory listings. An alleged model, the Moto X70 Air Pro (model number: XT2603-1), has just made its way to the China 3C certification database. The listing indicates support for wired fast charging of up to 90W, which is a big step up from the 67W charging introduced with the Moto X70 Air and its global variant known as the Motorola Edge 70.
The certification also provides a clue about the bigger battery, but details on the capacity are not available now.
The Moto X70 Air Pro was also seen on Geekbench, suggesting the device will run on a Snapdragon 7+ Gen 5 processor. That being said, there's a bit of doubt about Motorola and its chipset plans these days. Other leaks suggest the company is working on a premium smartphone that will use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 instead, with this potentially being marketed as an alternative model under either Edge or Signature branding.
In October, Motorola debuted the Moto X70 Air, a thin and design-orientated smartphone designed to compete with super-thin rivals like the iPhone Air. It seems like the company is doubling down on the form factor with the Moto X70 Air Pro but fixing some key shortcomings by embracing faster charging, stronger performance and better cameras too.
Further information on the Moto X70 Air Pro, including all the specs, pricing, and exact release dates, should be announced as its launch draws nearer.
