Melania Trump reportedly never imagined herself residing in the USA during her younger days. Melania Trump first moved to the US back in 1996 and became a naturalized US citizen in 2006.
In an interview with ABC News, her ex-boyfriend shared insights about the former model's aspirations, revealing she dreamed of relocating to Europe rather than America. "She wanted to live abroad, in Italy, France, a life of fashion. She was very fashionable," Jure Zorc recounted, emphasizing that living in the US was not on her radar back then: "I think it was very far from our minds at that time."

Jure Zorc reminisced about their relationship which spanned from 1991 to approximately 1996, depicting their cinematic first encounter: "We met each other like in a movie," he said. "I was on my motorbike, and she has been walking down a street. As I passed by her, I had a moment and thought, 'Wow, who is this girl? She is so beautiful, I must turn back and follow her."Describing his initial impressions, Zorc said, "I was impressed by her beauty from the very first moment. She was very nicely dressed, and her behavior was classy. She was tall, had long hair across her face - I could hardly see her eyes - such style!"
Similarly, Donald Trump once mentioned that when he first saw Melania in September 1998, he was immediately drawn to her attractiveness. The 52-year-old businessman met Melania, 28, in a nightclub in New York. At that time, he was separated but not divorced. In January 2005, Melania and Trump got married in a grandiose ceremony in Palm Beach, Florida.
“I think her marriage to Trump was fate,” Zorcic stated. “Nobody believed 20 years ago that she would live at the top of the world, on Fifth Avenue in Trump Tower -- even her!”

In July this year, a viral petition on MoveOn, called for the deportation of First Lady Melania Trump, her parents, and son Barron Trump--arguing that Trump's own family should not be exempted from the policies he championed.The petition stated, "Since Trump wants to deport naturalized citizens, I believe it is only fair that Melania and her parents are on the first boat out. In addition, Melania's anchor baby, Baron, should be forced to leave as well because we know that his mother's mother was born in a different country. That is part of the criteria that Trump is putting into place. Your mother's mother has to have been born in the United States and we know Melania's mother was born elsewhere. If it's good for one, it's good for all! There should be no exceptions! On the first boat or flight out!" The petition surfaced just days after Democratic California Rep. Maxine Waters, during an anti-DOGE protest in Los Angeles on March 25, suggested that Trump should investigate and potentially deport Melania Trump.
Melania Trump, born in the former Yugoslavia, became a US citizen in 2006. She was the first US first lady to become a naturalized citizen and the second to be born outside the United States, after Louisa Catherine Johnson Adams, wife of President John Quincy Adams.
