Max Verstappen Wins Las Vegas GP To Stay In The Race, Lando Norris Finishes 2nd To Close In On F1 Title
Formula One world champion Max Verstappen delivered an exceptional performance to win the Las Vegas Grand Prix on Saturday, while McLaren's Lando Norris secured second place, moving him closer to his first drivers' title.
Red Bull's Verstappen capitalised on a mistake by pole-sitter Norris at the first turn of the street circuit in Sin City, seizing the lead and maintaining control for the remainder of the race. Verstappen clinched his 69th Grand Prix victory, finishing more than 20 seconds ahead.
Britain's Norris bolstered his lead in the season standings with his second-place finish, now holding 408 points with two races left, 30 points ahead of team-mate Oscar Piastri, who finished fourth. Mercedes' George Russell took third place.
Following the drama of Friday's qualifying, where heavy rain created hazardous conditions that Verstappen compared to driving on ice, Saturday's 50-lap race began in cool, dry weather under the dazzling lights of Las Vegas.
Verstappen, who remains mathematically in contention for a fifth consecutive title, now sits 42 points behind Norris after capitalising on the improved weather.

Norris, fresh off consecutive wins in Mexico and Sao Paulo, attempted an aggressive manoeuvre to block Verstappen shortly after the start. However, this move backfired as Norris ran off the track, allowing Verstappen to take the lead. Norris dropped to third after being overtaken by Russell.
