Trade analyst Taran Adarsh called it a powerful and captivating movie, praising Rani's ‘ferocious', ‘no-holds-barred performance'. “Director #AbhirajMinawala mounts a taut, hard-hitting thriller that stays true to the soul of the franchise… The narrative is razor-sharp [for the most part], the tension relentless, and the emotional beats land with force. Any shortcomings? The writing could've been sharper in parts… Specifically, in the post-interval portions – the antagonists' track could have been explained in a simpler manner," he wrote.
He also praised Rani Mukerji and lauded her commanding screen presence, and called Mallika Prasad (as Amma) ‘terrifying' and ‘highly effective'.
About Mardaani 3
This time around, Shivani is seen joining the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and taking charge of a chilling case involving the kidnapping of two young girls. As Shivani digs deeper into the investigation, the case spirals into something far more sinister, revealing a nationwide human trafficking network run by an elderly woman named Amma, played by Mallika Prasad. What initially appears to be a trafficking case soon exposes links to a larger beggar mafia, indicating organised crime operating under the guise of helplessness.
Mardaani 3 also features Shaitaan fame Janaki Bodiwala in a pivotal role. The film is written by Aayush Gupta, known for penning YRF's The Railway Men, and directed by Abhiraj Minawala. The project is produced by Aditya Chopra under the Yash Raj Films banner.
