Premier League: Manchester City Narrows Gap On Arsenal With 3-0 Win Over Sunderland

Manchester City reignited the Premier League title race with a commanding 3-0 victory over Sunderland, closing the gap on leaders Arsenal to just two points. Arsenal's dramatic 2-1 defeat at Aston Villa provided City the perfect opportunity to capitalise, and Pep Guardiola's side delivered with authority. Despite dominating possession from the outset, City initially struggled to create clear chances. That changed in the 31st minute when Ruben Dias unleashed a fierce 30-yard strike that deflected off Dan Ballard before nestling into the top corner. Less than four minutes later, Phil Foden sent in a superb cross that Josko Gvardiol rose high to head home, giving City full control by half-time.

Foden added a third in the 65th minute, finishing off one of the most eye-catching assists of the season — a stunning rabona chip from Rayan Cherki that left even Foden shaking his head in disbelief. Sunderland's night worsened when Luke O'Nien was sent off deep into stoppage time, capping a frustrating evening for the visitors, who remain seventh with 23 points.

Elsewhere, Arsenal's late collapse at Villa Park – sealed by Emiliano Buendia's stoppage-time winner – opened the door for City to tighten the title race. Aston Villa's victory moved them to within three points of the top, intensifying the battle at the summit. Chelsea, however, failed to take advantage, recording their third straight winless match with a goalless draw at Bournemouth, leaving them eight points off the pace in fourth.

Tottenham ended their five-match winless run with a 2-0 victory over Brentford, courtesy of first-half goals from Richarlison and Xavi Simons, lifting them back into the top half. Newcastle continued their steady climb with a 2-1 win over 10-man Burnley, while Everton enjoyed a morale-boosting 3-0 win over Nottingham Forest, driven by an own goal from Nikola Milenković and further strikes from Thierno Barry and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.
