At Bengaluru Marriott Hotel Whitefield, this philosophy has taken shape through a dedicated pet menu conceptualised by Executive Chef Gaurav Paul. For him, preparing meals for pets requires the same discipline that defines any professional kitchen.
Chef Paul explains that modern hospitality now extends beyond individual guests to the entire family including pets. As he puts it, “If we welcome pets into our spaces, we must do so with sincerity and expertise."
Approaching the menu like any curated dining experience, Paul focused on ingredient sourcing, balanced nutrition, and thoughtful compositions. The result is a menu that includes dishes such as Pumpkin Cheesecake, designed to provide natural sweetness and fibre; Chicken Kibble Kebab, centred on lean protein; and Fish & Egg Pup Slices, which are intended to be both digestible and nutrient-rich.
For the chef, the initiative represents something larger than novelty. As he notes, responsible pet dining is not merely a trend but part of how hospitality continues to evolve alongside changing guest expectations.
Bridging Travel and Pet Nutrition
Beyond hotel kitchens, pet nutrition experts are also playing a key role in shaping how this category develops. As more families travel with their pets, maintaining access to balanced meals becomes an important part of the overall travel experience.
Ishmeet Singh Chandiok, Founder, Harley’s Corner and a certified canine nutritionist, believes collaborations between hospitality brands and pet food specialists are a natural progression.
According to Chandiok, the goal is to give pet parents peace of mind by ensuring that their dogs can access healthy, human-grade meals even while travelling. Partnerships with premium hospitality brands, including IHCL SeleQtions, allow travellers to explore new destinations without worrying about compromising their pet’s dietary needs.
In his words, the industry is gradually moving beyond simply allowing pets to truly welcoming them by offering scientifically balanced, preservative-free meals that bring together nutrition, comfort, and indulgence.
Such partnerships help ensure that the hospitality experience remains both luxurious and responsible, with pets receiving the same level of attention that guests expect for themselves.
Hospitality Inspired by Personal Bonds
For many chefs, the motivation behind pet-friendly dining experiences is also deeply personal. At Grand Mercure Bangalore in Koramangala, Executive Chef Vilas Dhankute says the idea stems from understanding the emotional bond between pets and their families.
At the hotel, pets are treated not merely as visiting companions but as part of the extended guest family. The surrounding neighbourhood, known for its pet-loving community, has further shaped this inclusive approach to hospitality.
Dhankute explains that his own relationship with his pet has influenced how he views comfort, empathy, and care within hospitality. Rather than offering a fixed menu alone, the hotel currently focuses on personalised meals tailored to each pet’s needs.
Some of the dishes that have proved popular among their furry guests include Chicken and Pumpkin Stew, Chicken and Quinoa Delight, Salmon and Veggie Plate, and a wholesome Furry Fried Bowl.

As lifestyles evolve and pets become an inseparable part of family life, the hospitality industry is rethinking what it truly means to welcome guests.
