'Ugly As F**k': Lucky Ali Slams Javed Akhtar Over Hindu-Muslim Remark
Singer Lucky Ali has lashed out at Javed Akhtar after a social media user recently called out the veteran lyricist for over an old video in which he was seen asking Hindus ‘not to become like Muslims'. While News18 Showsha could not independently verify how old the video is, it has grabbed many people's attention online.
Lucky Ali also commented on an X post which shared the video of Javed Akhtar and wrote, “Don't become like Javed Akhtar, never original and ugly as fack…"
In the viral video, Javed Akhtar spoke about the epic “Yunki ye kaun bola" scene from the 1975 film Sholay when he said, “In Sholay, there was a scene where Dharmendra hides behind Shiv ji's murti and speaks, and Hema Malini (thinks) Shiv ji is talking to her. Is it possible to have a scene like that today? No, I will not write a scene (like this today). Were there no Hindus in 1975 (when Sholay released)? Were there no dharmic people? There were."
“As a matter of fact, I'm on record, I'm not saying it right here. Raju Hirani and I were in Pune in front of a big audience and I said ‘Don't become like Muslims. Make them like yourself. You are becoming like Muslims'. It's a tragedy," Akhtar added.
Javed Akhtar is the recipient of five National Film Awards and even two of India's highest civilian honours – the Padma Shri and the Padma Bhushan. He has written a number of hit movies and earned his breakthrough as a screenwriter after Amitabh Bachchan's starrer Zanjeer, released in 1973.
Alongside Salim Khan, Javed Akhtar is behind many wonders, including Andaz (1971), Haathi Mere Saathi (1971), Seeta Aur Geeta (1972), Yaadon Ki Baaraat (1973), Deewaar (1975), Sholay (1975), and many others. Javed Akhtar is also celebrated for his powerful lyrics, and he has won the National Film Award for Best Lyrics five times for his work in the films Saaz, Border, Godmother, Refugee, and Lagaan.
