The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has said only those who haven’t completed the eKYC process need to act; existing compliant users, especially under the PM Ujjwala Yojana, are not required to update their KYC frequently.
LPG consumers may need to complete the Aadhaar-based authentication to continue receiving cylinder deliveries, as the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has stated that all the domestic LPG consumers required to complete biometric Aadhaar authentication to streamline distribution and curb misuse.
Under the updated process,delivery of LPG cylinders could be allowed after verifying customer details through Aadhaar in select cases, making it important for users to check their KYC status.

The move aims to ensure that subsidies and supplies reach genuine beneficiaries while improving transparency in the system as the rising tensions in the Middle East due to the Israel US and Iran War has led to black hoarding of the LPG cylinders.
However, concerns were raised regarding the directive as a misconception was circulated on the social media that all the LPG Cylinder customers need to update their KYC fresh.
The ministry clarified on the issue saying the latest message was not a new directive but part of ongoing efforts to encourage completion of the process.
“The recent post by the ministry is a part of the ongoing efforts of the Government to encourage more LPG consumers to complete biometric Aadhaar authentication,” it had said.
Who needs to update KYC? Government answers
The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has clarified that Aadhaar-based biometric authentication (eKYC) for LPG consumers is required only for those who have not yet completed the process, and not for all customers.
It said the eKYC requirement applies only to LPG consumers who have not done it so far. Non-PM Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) customers who have already completed eKYC are not required to repeat the process.
For PMUY beneficiaries, eKYC needs to be completed only once every financial year, and that too specifically for receiving targeted Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) subsidies after seven refills, typically on the eighth and ninth refill.

If your KYC is not verified, then you need to get it done in order to avoid any delay in the delivery of your LPG Cylinder.
