Kyren Lacy, an NFL prospect accused in a fatal hit-and-run, died by suicide before his trial. Months later, his attorney presented new video evidence, claiming it proves Lacy's innocence by showing he was far behind the vehicles at the time of impact, contradicting police allegations of reckless driving and fleeing the scene.
The Kyren Lacy hit-and-run trial took a completely different turn after his attorney Matt Ory, put forward some bold questions in front of the Louisiana State Police. Lacy was involved in a car accident that ultimately led to the death of 78-year-old Herman Hall in January. After the fatal car crash, Kyren Now, after this took place, Lacy was supposed to appear in court and fight for justice, but before he could even tell his side of the story, he took his own life.
Now, months after Kyren Lucy died by suicide, a new video has emerged of a car accident which a former NFL Draft prospect was accused of causing has emerged. Matthew Ory claims it proves his innocence. Ory gave a long interview on HTV 10 this week.
He said, "We know from data that Kyren Lacy did in fact pass four cars, there's no disputing that. "Further north Kyren Lacy passed four cars.
"However, he was back in his lane of travel 92.3 yards back in his lane behind Mr. Hall. "At the time of impact, he's 72.6 yards behind the vehicles at the time of impact.
"Key word: behind the vehicles. "That is not how this story was painted. Never." The crash Lacy was accused of being involved in happened in December 2024.

Kyren Lacy's girlfriend on his suicide
Kyren Lacy was a standout wide receiver from LSU and a rising NFL Draft prospect and his tragic death left the entire football community and loved ones in shock.At his funeral, Kyren Lacy's girlfriend paid an emotional tribute to gim and took the stage to honour his memory. She spoke about the man she loved with tears in her eyes and offered the world a rare glimpse into Kyren's true heart. “He was the most loving man I've ever known; he was the light in every dark room, even when social media tried to misrepresent him,” she said. “Thank you for loving me, for choosing me, and for being mine.”
Kyren's father, Kenny, addressed the importance of mental health during his remarks, urging others to be more understanding of the invisible battles people face. He spoke about his son not just as a gifted athlete but as a kind-hearted, gentle young man who cared deeply for those around him.
"Our lives have changed forever and this will never be ok, but God needed my baby more than he was needed here," he said.
"This has to be the biggest pill our families have had to swallow but I know the love and compassion in our families will get us through. This will never get easier, but we'll learn to live with it."

Is Kyren Lacy innocent?
After the tragic accident, Kyren Lacy faced multiple charges of negligent homicide, hit and run, and reckless driving. Police even claimed that Lacy was passing the other vehicles in a no-parking zone.And because of that, a pickup truck had to pull the brake so that it would not have to hit him directly. On top of that, police even made a bold statement saying how Lacy fled the crime scene without calling 911 or helping the victim. But it looks like that's not the case at all.
Lacy's attorney Matt Ory defended Lacy during his interview with HTV, where he made it pretty clear with a video that proves that Lacy was not the one responsible for the crash. Explaining the entire situation, he said, “The evidence submitted in the report does not support that Kyren Lacy should have known his actions were the cause of the crash that happened approximately 72 yards in front of him.”

Who was Kyren Lacy?
Kyren Lacy was a rising football star and expected to be picked in the 2025 NFL Draft. He played three seasons with LSU and scored nine touchdowns in his final season.“LSU has truly made a big impact on my life on and off the field, these past three years,” he posted on Instagram in January. “Playing in Death Valley, for the best fans in the country was an experience I will never forget.
“Not too many people get to fulfill a dream like this.” Lacy thanked his coaches and trainers before rounding off the post: “With that being said, I will be declaring for the 2025 NFL Draft.”
