To ensure smooth travel for pilgrims, the Uttarakhand Civil Aviation Development Authority (UCADA) has finalized the tender process and selected eight helicopter companies to operate services this year.
Helicopter services to Kedarnath are operated every year from Guptkashi, Phata, and Sirsi. A tender process completed in 2022 covered three years, but a fresh tender was finalized in 2026. Numerous operators participated, and eight were selected. This year, two operators will run services from Guptkashi, four from Phata, and two from Sirsi.
UCADA has fixed fares for one-way tickets:
– Guptkashi to Kedarnath: Rs 6,077 per person
– Phata to Kedarnath: Rs 4,840 per person
– Sirsi to Kedarnath: Rs 3,043 per person
These fares are exclusive of GST and convenience fees, which will be added during booking. Compared to last year, fares from Sirsi have been reduced, while fares from Guptkashi and Phata have increased.
In 2025, fares were higher due to changes introduced by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). Round-trip fares were Rs 12,444 from Guptkashi, Rs 8,842 from Phata, and Rs 8,839 from Sirsi. The revised rates this year reflect adjustments made after the new tender process.
Pilgrims must book tickets only through the official IRCTC Heli Yatra portal (https://heliyatra.irctc.co.in). Authorities have warned against booking through other websites or agents, as this could lead to fraud. The portal will open for bookings soon, and pilgrims are advised to plan early.
Helicopter services are a lifeline for Kedarnath pilgrims, especially the elderly and those unable to trek the steep 18-km route from Gaurikund. The service saves time and ensures safer travel in the high-altitude region. With thousands of devotees expected during the yatra season, heli services help manage the rush and provide convenience.
Authorities have emphasized strict monitoring of helicopter operations to ensure passenger safety. Operators must follow aviation guidelines, and UCADA teams will oversee compliance during the yatra.
With fares finalized and operators selected, helicopter services to Kedarnath Dham are ready to begin. Pilgrims can look forward to smoother travel this year, but must remember to book tickets only through the IRCTC portal. The initiative reflects Uttarakhand’s efforts to balance tradition, convenience, and safety during the sacred Char Dham Yatra.
