Kabeer Biswas to exit Flipkart Minutes; Kunal Gupta to take charge of 10-minute delivery vertical

Less than a year after joining Flipkart to spearhead its quick commerce foray, Flipkart Minutes, Dunzo cofounder Kabeer Biswas is leaving the Walmart-owned ecommerce major, people aware of the matter said. Flipkart has now appointed Kunal Gupta to lead Minutes, as the company continues to push into the 10-minute delivery category dominated by Blinkit, Swiggy Instamart and Zepto.

Biswas came on board earlier this year to head Flipkart with its instant delivery strategy after the cash-strapped Dunzo backed by Reliance Industries, shut operations.

Biswas, who co-founded Dunzo in 2015, had stepped back from daily operations at the Reliance Retail-backed startup last year after it struggled with delayed salaries, fund crunch and a reset in leadership. His brief stint at Flipkart was viewed as an effort to bring seasoned execution to its quick commerce ambitions.

Queries sent to Flipkart did not elicit a response till the time of publishing the story.
