Jharkhand Cop Makes Reel With Wife Outside Police Station, Probe Ordered — ‘Ab Araam Se Ghar Baithna’
A video from Jharkhand has left many questioning the fine line between personal fun and professional responsibility. On Republic Day, a police officer was captured in a reel dancing with his wife at his workplace. The clip has now caught widespread attention online about the conduct expected of law enforcement officials.
The video shows the officer and his wife at the police station premises. According to reports, the police official was identified as Inspector Sonu Choudhary, posted at Hussainabad Police Station in Palamu district.
Police Official Creates Reel With Wife At Station
Choudhary created the reel in the station compound on Republic Day. In the clip, he is seen wearing his official uniform while his wife also appears. They are both seen dancing. At one point, he even puts his police cap on her wife's head.
Watch the clip here:
Several users criticised the video. Talking about the action taken against the officer, one person wrote, " Sahi Kiya ab ghar mein aaram se baithkar rail bnao." Another commented, “Are you doing your duty properly or just making reels?"
Inspector Shunted For Indiscipline
According to a report in the Times of India, following the viral reel incident, Choudhary was removed from his post and replaced by Chandan Kumar, as confirmed by Palamu Superintendent of Police (SP) Reeshma Ramesan.
“Disciplinary action was initiated by the DIG, Palamu range, Kishore Kaushal, after the reel went viral. These are all acts of indiscipline and misconduct. No police officer in uniform has any liberty to do all these," she said as quoted by the outlet.
TOI, citing police sources, mentioned that creating reels or filming on police station premises is strictly prohibited. When an officer of Inspector rank, especially the officer in charge, disregards these rules and engages in such conduct, it constitutes a serious breach of discipline.
The sources added that Choudhary not only filmed the reels but also allegedly shared them on social media.
Who Is Inspector Sonu Choudhary?
Inspector Sonu Choudhary belongs to the 2012 batch and was promoted to Inspector in 2024. Prior to his current posting at Hussainabad, he served as in-charge of Chainpur Police Station in Palamu. The Hussainabad area, located near the Bihar border along the Son River, has historically been considered sensitive due to Naxalite activity and other criminal concerns.
Chandigarh Constable Suspended After His Wife's Dance Reel
In March last year, Chandigarh Police suspended senior constable Ajay Kundu after a viral video showed his wife, Jyoti, dancing on a zebra crossing at Sector-20's Gurdwara Chowk. The video drew criticism as it caused a traffic disruption.
The video was reportedly filmed by her sister-in-law, Pooja, shortly after the two had visited a temple in Sector 32.
