Fans across the country flocked to theatres to watch Rishab Shetty's much-awaited film, Kantara: Chapter 1, which is the prequel to the 2022 blockbuster Kantara. The film features grand visuals, folklore-inspired storytelling and impactful performances.
While the audience is rushing to watch the movie, one fan's unusual act outside a Bengaluru theatre is grabbing widespread attention.
Fan Recreates Rishab Shetty's Possession Scene
At Anjan Theatre on Magadi Road in Bengaluru, one fan drew attention by reenacting a memorable scene from the film.
Dressed in a yellow kurta and dhoti, sporting a beard, he twirled, shouted and even lay on the floor to imitate the possession sequence from the film where Rishab's character gets possessed by Guliga, a mythological divine figure central to the story. People can be seen recording the act on their phones.
Divine visuals from Bengaluru ‘Stop The Nonsense': Social Media Reacts
As the video started gaining traction, it drew in varied reactions. Many viewers criticised the act and questioned whether it was appropriate to imitate the possession scene, given its religious and cultural significance.
One user commented, “Please stop this nonsense."
Another wrote, “This is not any divine visual but a mockery of the Tulunadu tradition."
“And the mockery starts," someone else remarked while a person added, “The movie just released, and they've already started mocking."
A Fan Dressed As Daiva
Just a few days earlier in Dindigul, Tamil Nadu, a fan came dressed up as a Daiva, the divine spirit. He entered the screening, which prompted the audience to capture the moment on their phones.
After the screening of Kantara Chapter 1 at a cinema in Dindigul, a fan dressed as a Daiva stunned the audience there.

Kantara: Chapter 1 Box Office Performance
Released on October 2, Kantara: Chapter 1 made a strong mark at the box office as it collected Rs 162.85 crore net in India during its first three days. Friday saw earnings of around Rs 46 crore, which jumped nearly 20 per cent to Rs 55 crore on Saturday. The momentum continued on Sunday with morning shows contributing to a total of Rs 61 crore, which brought the opening weekend domestic total to an impressive Rs 223.25 crore, according to Sacnilk.

Kantara: Chapter 1 stars Rishab in the lead role with Rukmini Vasanth, Gulshan Devaiah, Jayaram, and Rakesh Poojari in supporting roles. It is both written and directed by Rishab and produced by Vijay Kiragandur under Hombale Films.
The film is set more than a thousand years before the events of the original and explores the mythological and cultural traditions of Karnataka during the Kadamba period.
