Indian Wrestler Sujeet Kalkal Wins 65Kg Freestyle Gold At U23 World Championships

Indian wrestler Sujeet Kalkal clinched the gold medal in the men's freestyle 65kg category at the U23 World Championships with a 10-0 triumph over Uzbekistan's Umidjon Jalolov on Monday.

The match lasted four minutes and 54 seconds before the referee declared Kalkal the winner. Kalkal secured victory by superiority, exhibiting complete control over his Uzbek opponent.

Before this, Kalkal hadn't won a world title, although he did have two U23 Asian titles (2022, 2025) and one U20 Asian Championship gold (2022).

Sujeet, who earned bronze at the same championships last year, upgraded the colour of his medal this time.

Despite trailing against Bashir Magomedov in the quarterfinal, he managed a 4-2 victory to advance to the semifinals, where he overpowered Japan's Yuto Nishiuchi 3-2 with a remarkable two-point throw in the final moments of the bout.
