India’s most expensive credit cards

India’s most expensive credit cards: From Grammy tickets to private charters, what these cards really offer
Grammy Awards pre-sale access. Private charter discounts. Tarmac transfers at airports. Complimentary luxury cruises. Yes, you read that right.
India’s most expensive credit cards are no longer just payment tools, they are becoming access passes to a luxury lifestyle.
With fees running into lakhs of rupees, these invite-only cards target ultra-high-net-worth individuals (UHNIs), business owners and affluent customers with deep banking relationships. Banks are increasingly competing on exclusivity rather than cashback, offering concierge-led travel, elite hotel memberships, golf privileges and VIP experiences.
According to Santosh Agarwal, CEO of Paisabazaar, these super-premium cards are designed for high-income consumers who can meaningfully utilise the attached lifestyle benefits.
“Super-premium credit cards are designed for high-income individuals or those who maintain a high TRV with banks. Many of these are invite-only cards and offered exclusively to select customers,” Agarwal said.
She added that the high annual fees only make sense for users who actively utilise the travel, hospitality and lifestyle privileges attached to these cards.
Here’s a look at some of India’s most expensive credit cards and the luxury experiences they offer.
Axis Primus Credit Card: Rs 5 lakh for first-class travel perks
The Axis Primus Credit Card is among the country’s most exclusive offerings, carrying a joining fee of Rs 5 lakh and annual charges of Rs 3 lakh plus taxes.
The invite-only card offers up to four complimentary companion airfares on full-fare first or business-class tickets on partner airlines. Other benefits include unlimited domestic golf access, four international golf rounds, zero forex markup fees and concierge services.
HSBC Taj Credit Card: Built around luxury stays
The HSBC Taj Credit Card focuses heavily on hospitality and premium travel experiences.
Priced at Rs 1.1 lakh annually plus taxes, the card offers Taj InnerCircle Platinum NeuPass membership benefits including priority check-ins, room upgrades and lounge access. Cardholders also get 25 percent savings on room and suite bookings across participating Taj properties, along with 12 complimentary golf games and lessons every year.
American Express Platinum Card: Grammy access and global experiences
The American Express Platinum Card is positioned around premium global experiences and event access.
With an annual fee of Rs 66,000, the card offers access to pre-sale tickets and VIP experiences for concerts, fashion weeks and events including the Grammy Awards. It also includes welcome benefits worth up to Rs 60,000 on spending Rs 50,000 within the first two months of membership.
Axis Bank Burgundy Private Credit Card: Luxury perks for private banking clients
The Axis Bank Burgundy Private Credit Card carries an annual fee of Rs 50,000 plus taxes, although it is offered free for Burgundy Private account holders.
The card offers 15 EDGE Reward points for every Rs 200 spent, zero forex markup fees and unlimited domestic and international lounge access for primary and add-on members, along with 12 complimentary guest visits annually.
Cardholders also get complimentary memberships to Club Marriott, Accor Plus and Taj Epicure, up to 30 percent off on airport transfers and 50 domestic plus four international golf rounds or lessons every year.
IDFC FIRST Private Credit Card: Experience-led premium benefits
Priced at Rs 50,000 plus taxes annually, the IDFC FIRST Private Credit Card is positioned around luxury travel and high-end lifestyle experiences.
The card offers unlimited domestic and international airport lounge and spa access for both primary and add-on cardholders, unlimited railway lounge visits and complimentary golf games and lessons across premium courses.
Other benefits include zero forex markup fees, 10 reward points per Rs 100 spent across categories and a Taj Experiences Signature dining voucher on cumulative spends of Rs 15 lakh within the first six months of issuance.
Axis Reserve Credit Card: Premium travel with luxury memberships
The Axis Reserve Credit Card comes with an annual fee of Rs 50,000 plus taxes and focuses heavily on premium travel and hospitality benefits.
The card offers unlimited domestic and international lounge access for primary and add-on cardholders, 50 complimentary golf rounds every year and complimentary memberships to ITC Culinaire, Accor Plus and Club Marriott Asia Pacific.
Users also earn 15 EDGE Reward points for every Rs 200 spent domestically and 30 EDGE Reward points on international spends, along with a low forex markup fee of 1.5 percent.
YES Private Credit Card: Tarmac transfers and private charter savings
The YES Private Credit Card carries a joining fee of Rs 50,000 plus taxes and an annual fee of Rs 10,000 plus taxes.
The card is built around luxury travel experiences, offering priority airport check-ins, private lounges, chauffeured transfers and even tarmac transfers through its ‘Airport by Invitation’ service.
Cardholders also get unlimited domestic and international lounge access with 12 complimentary guest visits annually, preferential forex markup fees of 0.5 percent and savings of up to $1,000 on round-trip private air charter bookings.
Additional benefits include hotel upgrades and complimentary breakfasts across luxury chains like Hyatt and Shangri-La, along with discounts on cruises and international car rentals.
Luxury perks come with a catch
Financial planners caution that these cards should not be viewed as status symbols alone. Many require high annual spends to unlock milestone benefits or fully justify the fee structure.
As banks compete harder for affluent Indians, the super-premium card market is increasingly becoming about selling access and exclusivity, not just credit. But the real value of these cards ultimately depends on whether users actually maximise the benefits attached to them.
