India have announced their squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against New Zealand, which is set to be played from January at the BCA Stadium, Vadodara. The squad sees the return of Shreyas Iyer and Shubman Gill whereas veterans Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Ravindra Jadeja will feature once again in the 50-over cricket.
Shreyas, who suffered a serious spleen injury during the third ODI against Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) in October, has made his comeback in the Indian team as the team's vice-captain after missing the last ODI series against South Africa. However, his selection is subject to receiving a fitness clearance from the BCCI Centre of Excellence
"Shreyas Iyer's availability is subject to fitness clearance from BCCI COE," the BCCI said in a statement on Saturday.

Meanwhile, skipper Shubman Gill himself will return to lead the side after missing the ODI series against South Africa last month due to a neck injury picked up during the Kolkata Test. He recently featured in the T20I series against South Africa at the top of the order, but was excluded for the final game in Ahmedabad on December 19.
The return of senior batters Shreyas Iyer and Shubman Gill has pushed Ruturaj Gaikwad and Tilak Varma out of the squad, despite both scoring centuries recently in the Vijay Hazare Trophy.
Rishabh Pant has managed to hold on to his spot in the squad as the second 'keeper behind KL Rahul with Dhruv Jurel now left out.
The most noticeable absentee is India all-rounder Hardik Pandya, who has not been deemed fit to bowl his full quota of 10 overs by the CoE.
"Hardik Pandya has not been cleared by the BCCI COE to bowl 10 overs in a match and considering the ICC Men's T20 World Cup to follow, his workload is being managed," the BCCI said.
Meanwhile, India pacer Mohammed Siraj makes his way back to the side, as he last appeared in the one-day format in India's final ODI against Australia in October last year. The likes of Arshdeep Singh, Prasidh Krishna and Harshit Rana will join Siraj in the pace attack.
On the other hand, the spin department will be led by Kuldeep Yadav along with all-rounders Washington Sundar and Ravindra Jadeja.
India will play New Zealand in three ODIs before a five-match T20I series, serving as crucial preparation ahead of the fast-approaching ICC Men's T20 World Cup, scheduled to start on February 7.
