India and Finland have strengthened their bilateral relations by signing several agreements covering areas such as environmental cooperation, migration and mobility, and statistical collaboration. The discussions focused on expanding cooperation in technology, sustainability, trade, and global governance, reflecting the growing partnership between the two countries.
India and Finland exchanged agreements in multiple areas, including environmental cooperation, migration and mobility partnership, and statistical collaboration.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said both nations are shaping their relationship into a strategic partnership focused on digitalisation and sustainability. He emphasised that collaboration in advanced technology sectors will play a major role in strengthening bilateral ties.
India and Finland plan to expand collaboration in high-tech sectors such as artificial intelligence, 6G telecommunications, clean energy, and quantum computing. Prime Minister Modi said that collaboration in these fields will promote innovation and provide fresh momentum to the partnership between the two countries.
“This partnership, from AI to 6G telecom, from clean energy to quantum computing, will give momentum and energy to our cooperation in many high-tech areas,” PM Modi
Prime Minister Modi noted that the recently concluded India-European Union Free Trade Agreement in early 2026 will further boost trade, investment, and technology partnerships between India and Finland. The agreement is expected to open new opportunities for businesses and industries on both sides.
“In early 2026, a historic India-European Union Free Trade Agreement was signed. This Agreement will further strengthen trade, investment, and technology cooperation between India and Finland,” Prime Minister Modi said.
During their talks at Hyderabad House, the two leaders also exchanged views on international developments and discussed cooperation in multilateral forums. Prime Minister Modi highlighted that the world is currently facing instability due to conflicts in regions such as Ukraine and West Asia, making stronger cooperation between India and Europe important for global stability and prosperity.
President Alexander Stubb, who arrived in India on Wednesday on a four-day visit, also met External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar earlier in the day. The Finnish President is scheduled to deliver the keynote address at the Raisina Dialogue during his visit.
