IIT JAM 2026 Registration Begins Tomorrow, Check Exam Schedule
IIT JAM 2026: Registration for IIT JAM 2026 will commence on September 5, as announced by IIT Bombay through a notice. Interested candidates can register for this entrance exam via the IIT JAM 2026 or JOAPS portal at jam2026.iitb.ac.in until the deadline of October 12, 2025.
This exam facilitates admission to MSc and Integrated MSc-PhD courses at IITs and IISc. The IIT JAM 2026 exam is scheduled to be conducted in two shifts on February 15. According to the prospectus, there are approximately 3000 seats available in PG courses across 22 IITs for the academic year 2026-27.
IIT JAM 2026: Criteria for Entrance Exam
Candidates must hold a graduation degree or be in their final year of graduation to be eligible for IIT JAM 2026. There is no upper age limit for the exam. However, applicants must complete their graduation degree by the time of admission and submit valid proof of graduation within the prescribed limit set by the respective institute.

IIT JAM 2026: Application Fee
The application fee for IIT JAM 2026 is Rs 1000 for one paper for SC/ST, women, and differently abled candidates. For candidates from other categories, the fee is Rs 2000. For two papers, the fee is Rs 1350 for reserved category candidates and Rs 2700 for other candidates. Additionally, a fee of Rs 300 will be charged for changing the exam city, paper, category, or gender.

The three-hour exam consists of 60 questions totaling 100 marks. Divided into three compulsory sections – A, B, and C – the exam covers seven subjects: Mathematics (MA), Biotechnology (BT), Economics (EN), Chemistry (CY), Geology (GG), Mathematical Statistics (MS), and Physics (PH).
Through IIT JAM, candidates can get admission to M.Sc. and other postgraduate programmes offered by 22 IITs, the integrated Ph.D. and M.Sc. programmes available at IISc Bangalore, as well as admission to institutions like the National Institute of Technology (NITs), IIEST Shibpur, and SLIET Punjab, IISER Pune, IISER Bhopal, JNCASR, and IIPE.
