'I Was Not Aware': Ajit Pawar On Rs 300 Crore Land Deal Involving Son Parth
Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar distanced himself from over a land deal in Pune allegedly linked to his son, Parth Pawar, saying he was not aware of any deal and had personally requested CM Devendra Fadnavis to initiate an inquiry into the case.
“Several allegations were levelled against me in the past and none of them were proven. I knew nothing about this deal. I spoke to CM and told him that even though my relatives are involved in this deal, I requested him to initiate an inquiry," he said.
Ajit Pawar instructed all IAS officers not to entertain any person who comes with some work citing his reference, if that is against the rules. “Let the inquiry proceed, which will give all of us a clear picture about who made calls, who put pressure on me regarding this case."
“I was not aware of this deal. I checked with my department officers whether they put any pressure and supported this deal, but no one from my office did that," the deputy CM said.
Ajit Pawar had distanced himself from the matter on Thursday amid a fierce political storm over alleged land irregularities linked to his son, saying that he had made it clear to all officers that he won't support any wrong actions by anyone citing his name to get their work done
He further asserted that he is the person who works within rules and within the framework of the law. He also urged Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to investigate the matter and punish the culprits.

Pune Police registered an FIR against Parth Pawar, alleging that a 40-acre plot in Pune, valued at nearly Rs 1,800 crore, was sold for just about Rs 300 crore to his company. What has shocked many even more is that the stamp duty paid on the deal was reportedly only Rs 500.
The issue prompted a political uproar, with Opposition leaders demanding a wider investigation into what they call a “clear case of corruption and misuse of power."
Fadnavis ordered swift action. Pune Tehsildar Suryakant Yewale was suspended hours after the matter became public. He expressed strong displeasure over the irregularities, stating that if any wrongdoing is proven, strict action will follow.
The Maharashtra government has constituted a five-member high-level inquiry committee under the chairmanship of Additional Chief Secretary (Revenue, Stamps and Registration) Vikas Kharge to conduct a probe into the land row.
