‘I've 8 Kids, You Ain't Getting To Me’: US Tourist Yanks Venice Girl By Ponytail For Purse Theft
A video of a US tourist yanking a suspected pickpocket by the ponytail in Venice has gone viral, after the girl allegedly stole her purse and passport.
The incident took place on August 14, when the American woman's purse was allegedly stolen while she was on a vacation to Italy, The New York Post reported.
The dramatic viral video showed the women furious and holding the girl by her hair with a crowd of onlookers.
The woman, who is a mother of eight, tracked down her stolen purse using the “Find My Friends" feature on her AirPods, which were inside the stolen item, her daughter Karis McElroy said, as she shared the original video of the incident on TikTok, The NYP reported.

Karis' mother was on vacation in Venice with her stepdad when they were among a crowd of girls on a narrow bridge. They soon realised that her backpack had been unzipped and her purse was missing, along with a metal water bottle. The purse contained her credit cards, cash, and passport.
“Her and my stepdad immediately started tracking her purse through her AirPods on Find My Friends, and they were able to track it down back to those three girls," Karis said in a video.
“So she goes and chases them down, and she grabs one of the girls by her ponytail and does not let go. Two of the girls stay, one of the girls runs away with my mom's purse," she added.
“She said she didn't care about any of the other stuff in the bag, but she just at least wanted her passport so she could get home," the daughter said, detailing the conversation that happened at the scene.
The Airbnb host told Karis' mom that the three teenagers were known pickpockets in Venice and stayed with her until the police came to catch them.
The girl whose ponytail was gripped by the woman was screaming all the while, however, it did not affect the American woman.
“I have eight kids, you're not getting to me," the mom told the suspected pickpocket.
“The police officers came, and they were about to arrest these girls when the girl that had the bag over her shoulder went and swung it and hit my mom, and it hit my mom in the head. And in the bag was that metal water bottle that they took from my mom. So my mom had a massive gash on her head, and it was bleeding everywhere. She got a black eye from it, and the girls were arrested. And then my mom had to go to the hospital and get some stitches," NYP quoted Karis as saying.
The third girl took a train to the airport, where she was caught. Police found Karis' mom's passport and credit cards with her, but the cash and AirPods were still missing, Karis said.

Even after the frightening experience, Karis said her mom kept pointing out how kind the people in Venice were. A jewelry shop owner next to her Airbnb even gave her a necklace as a gift.
The girl who was yanked by the ponytail and arrested thereafter was only 14 years old, and was later released on bail after two days, Italian outlet Il Messaggero reported.
