‘I Am Truly Heartbroken’: Patralekhaa Reacts to ‘Gulkanda Tales’ Delay, Extends Support To Rahi Anil Barve
Tumbbad director Rahi Anil Barve's ambitious Prime Video series Gulkanda Tales faced a major post-production roadblock, and while it was announced in 2022, the comedy-period drama series is yet to see the light of day. The series stars Kunal Kemmu, Patralekhaa, Amit Mistry, Zakir Hussain, among others, and is produced by filmmaker duo Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK. Recently, Rahi Anil Barve spoke about the uncertainty surrounding his show and the emotional toll it has taken. He revealed that he spent five years pouring his heart and soul into creating it, yet he can't even share a single image from the series. Patralekhaa, who stars in the show, has now reacted to it, expressing her heartbreak over the uncertain fate of Gulkanda Tales.
Patralekhaa Is Heartbroken As ‘Gulkanda Tales' Remains In Limbo
On Sunday, Patralekhaa shared Rahi Anil Barve's words from his recent Screen interview, in which he said, “After Tumbbad, I spent five years creating Gulkanda Tales. I gave my all, my life's energy into it. I created one of the biggest OTT shows and now I can't show a single image of it." Patralekhaa, who stars in Gulkanda Tales, showed her support to the director, and expressed her heartbreak over the show's uncertain fate. She wrote, “Rahi Anil Barve more power to you. Hope the audience gets to watch the magic that was created. I am truly heartbroken."

In an interview with Screen, Rahi Anil Bare said, “Gulkanda Tales was originally supposed to be a film, a two-part film. The shoot started in 2019, got delayed because of COVID, and went on till 2023. It was a laugh riot. I created a four-thousand-year-old world, an extremely bizarre world. It's a show that can't be made again, and hasn't been made before."
He further said that he believes a show like Sacred Games can't be made in today's time. “Even if it will get made, they would kill it, they would cancel it, they would destroy it," he said.
Last year, multiple reports claimed that the streaming platform had shelved Gulkanda Tales, reportedly due to content concerns amid the current socio-political climate. There were also rumors of financial discrepancies in the show's budgeting. Raj & DK responded to these claims and clarified that the show is very much in the works.
