NASA Artemis II: As part of one of its historic missions, NASA has invited people from around the world to become part of its Artemis II mission by sending their names to space. Under the agency's “Send Your Name with Artemis II” campaign, members of the public can submit their names, which will travel aboard the Orion spacecraft as it flies around the Moon and back to Earth.
The Artemis II mission will be the first crewed flight under NASA's Artemis programme and is planned to launch around April 2026. The mission will last about 10 days and will test systems and hardware needed for future human exploration of deep space.

As part of the campaign, submitted names will be stored on an SD card that will be loaded onto the Orion spacecraft before launch. In return, participants will be able to download a digital boarding pass with their name on it as a keepsake.
NASA said the registration process is simple and open to anyone. People need to submit their first and last name along with a four- to seven-digit PIN. The deadline to register is January 21, 2026.
Artemis II will carry four astronauts: NASA astronauts Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover and Christina Koch, along with Canadian Space Agency astronaut Jeremy Hansen. This will be the first time astronauts fly aboard NASA's Space Launch System (SLS) rocket and the Orion spacecraft.
The mission is built after the success of Artemis I, an uncrewed test flight that successfully flew around the Moon in 2022. Artemis II will further demonstrate the spacecraft's performance with humans on board.
NASA officials said Artemis II is a critical step toward establishing a long-term human presence on the Moon. The mission will help confirm systems needed for future lunar landings and support NASA's long-term goal of sending astronauts to Mars.
Lori Glaze, acting associate administrator for the Exploration Systems Development Mission Directorate at NASA Headquarters, said Artemis II is both a technical milestone and an opportunity to inspire people worldwide.
She added that the mission allows the public to follow along as NASA advances human exploration deeper into space.
By allowing people to send their names into space, NASA aims to connect the public with its exploration efforts. The agency said the campaign is part of a broader effort to inspire global interest in science, technology and space exploration through the Artemis programme.
