Honey Singh Apologises For Vulgar Remark At Delhi Show, Says 'Insaan Ek Ghaltiyo Ka Putla Hai'
Rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh has issued a public apology after facing criticism for a remark he made during Nanku and Karun's concert in Delhi earlier this week. The comment, which went viral on social media platforms including Reddit, sparked backlash from several users who found it inappropriate. Responding to the criticism, Honey Singh shared a video message on Instagram on Thursday, clarifying his intent and expressing regret.
In the video, Honey Singh explained that he had attended the concert as a guest and addressed the Gen Z-heavy audience after recently interacting with medical professionals. According to the rapper, conversations with gynaecologists and sexologists prompted him to talk about safe sex practices, though his choice of words did not land well with everyone.
Explaining what led to the remark, Honey Singh said he was told that many young people are suffering from STDs due to unsafe sex. He added that his intention was to convey a message about protection in a language he believed the younger audience would understand.
“When I went on the show, I saw the Gen Z audience and thought I'd give them a message in their language – to not have unprotected sex and use condoms. I thought I'd speak in the language they will understand better, the way they watch OTT content and movies," he said.
Acknowledging that his words offended many, the rapper apologised directly. “Lekin won bhasha kayio ko bohut buri lagi. Main aap sab se maafi maangta hoon jingo meri who bhasha buri lagi. Mera kisiko thes pahuchane ka koi maqsad nahi tha. Insaan ek ghaltiyo ka putla hai," he said, adding that hurting sentiments was never his intention.
Honey Singh further assured fans that he would not repeat the mistake in the future. “Main koshish korunga aaj k baad aesi ghalti dobara na ho. Main apni zabaan pe niyantran rakhunga jab main koi baat bounga aur kisko bolunga, kis tarah bolunga," he said, stressing that he would be more mindful of his words going forward.
He concluded the video with another apology, saying, “Aap sabse maafi. Aapka apna Yo Yo Honey Singh, isi tarah pyaar dete rahiye."
The controversy stems from a clip recorded at the Delhi concert, where Honey Singh was heard saying, “B*******d Dilli ki thand! Isme na gaadi mein **** mein bada maza aata hai, itni thand mein. Gaadi mein sex karo, Dilli ki thand mein. Use condoms, guys, please. Play safe!"
The clip drew sharp reactions online, with some users mocking the rapper and others criticising his public persona. One comment referred to him as “Yo Yo Horny Singh," while another read, “His rise to fame began with a vulgar song that reduced Indian women to mere sexual objects." A social media user also wrote, “I guess it's time for him to disappear again."
