As part of the Ministry of AYUSH which oversees Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy, the system benefits from structured education, research initiatives, and inclusion in public health programmes.
The AYUSH sector's annual growth rate of over 17% reflects India's broader policy shift toward preventive, holistic, and integrative healthcare frameworks.

Many Indians now seek healthcare approaches that prioritise long-term wellness, prevention, and individualised care, rather than focusing solely on symptom management. Despite its popularity, homeopathy continues to be the subject of clinical debate, particularly regarding its evidence base. Critics question its empirical validation, while proponents highlight its low-risk profile, patient-centred approach, and supportive role in managing chronic conditions and overall wellbeing. Importantly, within India's integrative healthcare framework, homeopathy is not promoted as a substitute for emergency or life-saving medical care.
