Healthcare & Medicine Lead As Safest Study Abroad Options, Says Report
As more Indian students look at education options overseas due to rising demand and limited seats in India, a new analysis by IDP called the AI-Safe Degrees Abroad Report maps labour trends and automation risks across more than 2.5 lakh programmes in the US, UK, Canada and Australia, identifying careers most resilient to AI disruption.
The report shows that specialised healthcare and science roles retain the highest resilience. Jobs such as physician assistants, nurse practitioners, dentists, physicists and midwives rank among the strongest options for future stability, based on projected demand and lower automation exposure. These roles require complex reasoning, specialised training and human interaction, which AI tools cannot fully replicate.
In the US specifically, the survey highlights that several of these careers provide strong earning potential, with median pay exceeding $120,000 for fields like neurology, urology, nurse anesthesia and rehabilitation medicine. Many require advanced study, but the long-term growth and professional security are seen as attractive factors.
Top AI-Resilient Careers And Their Required Degree Paths
The data offers guidance to students and families making academic choices in the context of rapidly evolving job markets. As AI-driven automation affects routine and repetitive work, careers demanding nuanced judgement, empathy and domain expertise are expected to remain stable.

The report also includes comparisons of tuition levels, degree expenses and career returns across top study destinations, helping students evaluate the balance between cost and future earning possibilities.
Overall, the findings encourage students to consider programmes that provide durable career paths and are less likely to be replaced by automation or predictive algorithms in the coming decade.
