Hearing a matter about the recent disruption to IndiGo's operations, the Delhi High Court asked the Union government whether it was helpless in taking action against airlines. The bench also asked what provisions were available to the government in case the airline failed to comply with norms.

Congress leader Shashi Tharoor said that he will not accept an award named after Hindutva ideologue VD Savarkar. The award is being conferred by a non-governmental organisation called the Highrange Rural Development Society.

Tharoor said it was “irresponsible on the part of the organisers” to announce his name as an award winner without him having agreed to receiving it.

On the other hand, Aji Krishnan, the founder and secretary of the non-governmental organisation, said the decision of conferring Tharoor with the award had been communicated to the Congress leader a month ago. He claimed that Tharoor “had agreed to accept the award and attend the event”. Read on.
