Has Salah's Time At Liverpool Come To An End? Slot Axes Egyptian From UCL Squad; Says Future Unclear

It's not a pretty sight at Anfield, as the Mo Salah saga continues to cause ripples — And Reds' boss Arne Slot isn't one to take disrespect lightly either.

The consequence of Salah's public outburst? Instantly being dropped from the Champions League squad for Tuesday's clash at Inter Milan.

But, all of it begs to ask the question: have we seen the last of the Egyptian King with Liverpool?

Slot revealed he has “no clue" whether Mohamed Salah has already played his final game for the club, after the Egyptian forward was dramatically left out.

Salah, 33, was excluded from the 19-man travelling party following a blistering interview on Saturday in which he claimed he had been “thrown under the bus" and insisted he no longer had a relationship with Slot.

Slot, facing a barrage of questions at Monday's press conference, said he couldn't predict whether Salah would play for Liverpool again.

“I have no clue. I cannot answer that question at this moment," he said.

The Dutchman admitted Salah's comments blindsided him after the Egyptian remained an unused substitute in Saturday's chaotic 3-3 draw at Leeds United.

“It was a surprise for me… But I think our, my, reaction is clear — that's why he's not here with us tonight."

Pressed on whether the criticism was aimed directly at him, Slot pushed back.

“The only one who can answer that question is Mo himself… It's hard for me to tell who he means."

Salah trained with the squad on Monday, but Slot said the club informed him shortly afterwards that he would not travel to Milan.

“We let him know… that was the only communication," Slot noted, adding that Salah's response was brief.

Salah's Slump This Season

The forward's form has been under scrutiny this season. He was benched against West Ham last month, came off the bench in the 1-1 draw against Sunderland, and sat unused again at Leeds — a run of decisions that seems to have fuelled Saturday's eruption.

Salah claimed he had been made a “scapegoat" for Liverpool's struggles.

Slot responded coolly but firmly.

“He has every right to feel what he feels… but then it's up to us to react, and we reacted in the way you can see now."
