Gurugram Man’s Rant On Maintaining Work-Life Balance In A 9-To-5 Job: ‘Ye Gande Bartaan 4 Din Se Padhe Hai’ | Video
A video of a man from Gurugram has reignited the conversation around work-life balance. In the clip, he candidly shares how his 9-to-5 job has taken a heavy toll on him, leaving him physically and mentally drained. Despite long hours at work, he barely has any time or energy left for himself.
Speaking from his rented apartment in Gurugram, he reveals that his job consumes nearly 12 hours of his day. The resulting exhaustion has disrupted his daily routine and left his personal space in disarray. The video has been widely shared online, with many viewers calling it a stark reflection of the harsh reality faced by numerous corporate employees today.
‘Every 9-To-5 Corporate Slave'
The man begins his video by saying, “Ye log jo bol dete hai worklife balance jaisi koi chiz nahi hoti, aaj mai dikhata hu ki ye kyu important hai (Those who say there is no such thing as work-life balance, today I'll show why it's important)."
He then takes viewers around his small apartment, which costs him Rs 14,500 a month in rent. He shows his unmade bed with clothes lying unfolded, saying, “Ye sab yaha pe pure ek hafte se pada hua hai (All this has been lying here for a week)."
The camera then moves to his room's floor, which he hasn't been able to clean. “Isme dhaniye ke patte jam gaye hai lekin main ye saaf nahi kar pa raha hu (Coriander leaves have dried up on the floor, but I do not have time to clean it)," he adds.
The video then cuts to his kitchen sink, which is piled up with dirty utensils left untouched for four days. He mentions that despite wanting to create a cozy space for himself, his schedule leaves no time for it. Showing a lamp he bought to “give a feel of an apartment," he says he had planned to use it while watching movies during his free time.
“12-12 ghante ki shift, labour se bura haal ho chuka hai (Working 12-hour shifts, I'm in a worse state than a labourer)," he remarks.
A Message To His Boss, Parents And Future Partner
The man also shares that his situation needs to be understood by three people: his boss, his family and his partner.
He says, “Sabse pehle hai boss. Sir, mai mentally pagal ho chuka hoon kaam kar kar ke, mujhe nahi chahiye paisa (First, my boss — sir, I've gone mentally insane working continuously, I don't need money anymore)."
The man then addresses his parents: “Aur dusra, mere gharwale – samajho ki phone nahi utha raha hu toh kuch kar raha hounga (Secondly, my family — please understand that if I'm not answering calls, I must be doing something important)."
Lastly, he turns to the girl he cares about: “Aur teesra, wo ladki jiske liye hi main ye sab kuch kar raha hu – please try to understand, isse jyada main nahi kar sakta (And third, the girl I'm doing all this for – please try to understand, I can't do more than this)."

Social Media Divided Over His Story
The video struck a chord with many who could relate to his exhaustion and sense of burnout.
One user commented, “Just want to say you are doing your best. Keep working and be stress free — you'll make it one day."
Another wrote, “Nothing has hit me more than this."
Someone else said, “Thanks for exposing the other side of hustling culture."
“The reason I quit after 9 years… all big MNCs… but I found my way. We just have to put our best to escape," a person shared.

But not everyone was sympathetic. Some felt the man's struggles were more about personal discipline than his job. “Dayal bhai let's not call our lack of discipline a 9 to 5 issue. The mess in your room is not because of your job, it's simply because of the lack of discipline in your life. Wake up, go to gym, eat healthy — a lot of time to yourself, I am saying with experiment — because this is all just a spiral down," one user commented.
The user further urged him to take charge of his situation, and instead of feeling helpless, he should “wake up and start a ‘changing your life' series."
