A shocking moment from Junagadh has left social media stunned. Incidents of lions entering human areas are not new in this region, but what happened near Patapur was hard to believe. In broad daylight, a lioness was seen running at full speed on the road near the Patapur Cement Factory. The scene looked straight out of a wildlife documentary. At around 10:41 am, while factory work was going on as usual, the lion suddenly started chasing a dog.
The dog ran as fast as it could towards the factory gate, trying to save its life. The lioness matched the dog's speed and came close to it. A security guard standing near the gate witnessed the entire scene and even closed the factory gate so that the big cat couldn't enter the premises. Lions are usually active at night, but sightings during the day have now become more common in rural parts of Junagadh.
Lioness Chases Dog Near Factory Gate
As reported by ETV Bharat, CCTV footage from the factory captured the tense moment clearly. The dogs outside the main gate started barking, which caught the attention of the watchman on duty. Hearing the noise, he came out of his cabin to see what was going on. As he moved towards the gate to shut it, a lioness suddenly appeared right in front of him. There was no time to think or run. The watchman quickly closed the gate with all his strength. His quick actions helped him avoid a serious accident. The entire moment happened within seconds and left everyone shaken.

Reacting to the post, a user wrote, “The dog had a narrow escape through the gate."
Another shared, “LION WANTED TO PLAY, LOOK AT HIS TAIL. If he wanted to attack, his tail is strongly up, animal body language."
“That is lion's territory, humans occupied," a comment read.
An individual stated, “Now imagine the same situation without your community dogs. They make sure everyone gets alert from danger in advance."
Another mentioned, “I got upset when the guard closed the door, but had relief when the dog entered under the gate."
One more added, “Stop sensationalising lion stories. Asiatic lions from Gir (near Junagadh, Gujarat) aren't aggressive toward humans, they avoid us. Past decade: Lion deaths low vs leopards, mostly from livestock raids, not targeting people."
Junagadh is close to the Girnar hills and the Gir Forest area, so the movement of wild animals is very common. Lions and other animals are often seen near villages and roads, mostly during the night.
