Govinda, Sunita Have Always Lived Separately, Says Pahlaj Nihalani: 'Even If He Has 10 Affairs...'
Film producer Pahlaj Nihalani's remarks about Govinda and his wife Sunita Ahuja have resurfaced amid fresh reports of their divorce proceedings. The actor and Sunita have been in the headlines since speculation began about their marriage hitting troubled waters, and now, Nihalani's throwback interview has gone viral.

Nihalani, who collaborated with Govinda on several projects before their eventual fallout, once insisted that the couple's bond was unbreakable, no matter the circumstances. Addressing long-standing whispers about Govinda's alleged affairs, Nihalani had famously said, “Listen, nobody can get in between Sunita and Govinda's eternal love. Sunita speaks her mind, and Govinda never strays. Their marriage will survive even if he has 10 affairs," he was quoted as saying by Indian Express.

He further added that the couple's unconventional lifestyle often fuels speculation. “They've always lived separately. He always used to have his meetings in the other bungalow, because he sleeps late. She's always with him otherwise. He doesn't have a single film right now, but he does shows daily, and she handles his business matters," Nihalani explained.
Interestingly, Sunita herself had once admitted that she and Govinda live in separate houses, though she later clarified her stance. In an interview with Hindi Rush, she explained, “We have two houses, we have a bungalow opposite our apartment. I have my temple and my kids in the flat. We live in the flat whereas he gets late after his meetings. He loves talking so he'll gather 10 people and sit chatting with them. Whereas me, my son and my daughter live together."
The resurfaced comments gain relevance as, according to Hauterrfly, Sunita reportedly filed for divorce from Govinda in December 2024 in the Bandra Family Court. The grounds cited were adultery, cruelty, and desertion under the Hindu Marriage Act. However, it was later claimed that the couple had reconciled and were back together.
Govinda's manager, Shashi Sinha, had also weighed in on the controversy, suggesting that Sunita's outspoken nature had added fuel to the fire. “Sunita ji ne jo recent interviews mein baatein boli hain, yeh unn sab ka nateeja hai. Unhone zyaada bol diya hai (She said too much in recent interviews, this is the result). And you know Govinda sir… there is friction," he told HT City.
Although Pahlaj Nihalani admitted that he is no longer in regular contact with the couple, he shared that he visited Govinda after his recent gunshot accident and described the two as “the best of friends."
