Govinda and Sunita Ahuja‘s son, Yashvardhan Ahuja, has shared on Instagram that he recently did a pooja at his home. This post has caught everyone's attention due to its timing. Yashvardhan's post comes amid rumours that Sunita Ahuja has filed for divorce from Govinda. As per reports, Sunita has asked for a divorce on the grounds of ‘adultery, cruelty and desertion'.
Govinda and Sunita's son, Yashvardhan, took to Instagram recently to share a glimpse from the pooja at his house. He shared that his pet dog had also joined in as the prayers commenced. He wrote, “My lil boy joining us for pooja." Yashvardhan's picture included the priest and an unidentified man, who might or might not have been Govinda. Have a look here:
This post comes at a time when there is speculation that Sunita Ahuja wants to divorce Govinda. According to a report by Hauterrfly, Sunita Ahuja has filed a divorce petition against Govinda in Bandra Family Court, citing adultery, cruelty, and desertion under the Hindu Marriage Act of 1955. The petition, filed in December 2024, claims that Govinda has repeatedly skipped hearings and even failed to attend court-mandated counselling sessions. Sunita, however, has been present at every hearing.
In recent interviews, Sunita expressed her frustration not just with Govinda but also with the circle of people he surrounds himself with. In a conversation with The Powerful Humans, she shared: “Today he has four people – a writer, a musician, a secretary, and a lawyer friend. They are of no use. They only say, ‘wah, wah!' If he makes music, they say, ‘wah, wah… kamaal kar diya.' They should tell him the truth. When I tell him the truth, he gets upset."
Govinda and Sunita, married since 1987, have been one of Bollywood's most enduring couples. The divorce proceedings, coupled with resurfaced interviews, continue to keep them in the spotlight. Govinda and Sunita Ahuja's divorce rumours had surfaced earlier this year as well.
In February this year, several media reports claimed that Govinda and Sunita Ahuja had decided to part ways owing to constant disagreements and varied lifestyles. It was also said that Govinda's growing closeness to a 30-year-old Marathi actress is reportedly a major factor in their alleged split.
Later, their lawyer also stated that even though the couple had filed for divorce six months back, they were getting back together. Lalit Bindal, who is also the actor's family friend, shared that Govinda and Sunita are “going strong" and that they will always be together. This time, however, no denials have been issued yet.
