Gift Nifty Indicates Positive Start For Nifty 50, Sensex; TCS, Wipro Shares In Focus
The Indian stock market is poised for a positive start on Friday, tracking gains in global equities, even as concerns linger over the fragile US-Iran ceasefire.
Early indicators remain supportive. Gift Nifty was trading around the 23,932 mark, at a premium of about 71 points to the previous close of Nifty futures, signalling a firm opening for benchmark indices Nifty 50 and Sensex.
Asian markets traded higher in early deals, mirroring overnight gains on Wall Street amid hopes that diplomatic talks between the US and Iran could stabilise the situation.
Japan’s Nikkei 225 advanced 1.81 percent, South Korea’s Kospi rose 2.37 percent, and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng gained 1.10 percent.
US markets also ended higher on Thursday, buoyed by optimism that the ceasefire between the US and Iran would hold. However, geopolitical uncertainty persists. Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei warned of consequences for US and Israeli actions, while US President Donald Trump has raised doubts over the effectiveness of the ceasefire.
Tata Consultancy Services (TCS):
The IT major reported a consolidated net profit of ₹13,718 crore for Q4FY26, up 12.2 percent year-on-year. Revenue rose 9.6 percent to ₹70,698 crore. EBIT increased 14.5 percent YoY to ₹17,870 crore, with margin expanding 108 basis points to 25.27 percent.
JSW Steel:
The company reported a 3 percent YoY decline in consolidated crude steel production at 7.43 million tonnes in Q4FY26. Domestic production fell 1 percent to 7.34 million tonnes.
Wipro:
The board will consider a proposal for a share buyback at its April 16 meeting, alongside its Q4FY26 results. If approved, it would be the company’s first buyback since June 2023.
BSE:
The exchange has received SEBI approval to launch derivative contracts on the BSE Focused IT Index, which tracks 14 IT sector companies.
Tata Steel:
The company has acquired the remaining 0.01 percent stake in Tata Steel Colors from BlueScope Steel Asia Holdings for ₹0.03 crore, making it a wholly owned subsidiary.
HDFC Life Insurance:
The board will consider a proposal to raise funds via a preferential issue of equity shares on April 16.
JSW Energy:
The company has exercised its option to acquire the remaining 26 percent stake in JSW Mahanadi Power Company, after previously acquiring a 74 percent stake.
Prestige Estates:
The real estate developer has acquired a 50 percent partnership interest in Aaramnagar Realty LLP with an investment of ₹180 crore.
Ashiana Housing:
The company has acquired 28.55 acres of land in Pune for a senior living project, with an estimated revenue potential of ₹1,800 crore.
Saatvik Green Energy:
Its subsidiary, Saatvik Solar Industries, has secured solar module supply orders worth ₹108.75 crore. The company also announced the resignation of its CFO, effective April 7, 2026.
Poonawalla Fincorp:
The board has approved the launch of a qualified institutional placement (QIP) of equity shares, with a floor price of ₹390.26 per share.
GHV Infra Projects:
The company has secured infrastructure orders worth ₹216 crore for car shed expansion projects in Maharashtra.
