“Goodbye the Queen, you’ll be missed forever as your voice was never just India’s, it was a gift to the entire world,” reads one of the heartfelt tributes by Pakistani actors and singers to legendary Indian singer Asha Bhosle, who passed away on April 12, 2026.
“This is not just a loss for one country, but for music itself,” Film and TV Actor Imran Abbas said in a social media post.
“There was no one like her, and there never will be,” he added.
Recalling his first meeting with her, Abbas said: “I still remember the first time Asha Bhosle called me from Singapore through a common friend. What began as a simple conversation turned into a bond filled with warmth, laughter, and her unforgettable playful pranks.” “Your voice was never just India’s, it was a gift to the entire world. Even here in Pakistan, we loved you just as deeply as anyone, anywhere,” he added. Singer-actor Ali Zafar, who also worked in Indian films, called her an incredible artist.

“Her name will always be remembered as one of the greatest in world music. A special chapter has closed,” Haider added. The police band played a sombre tune as the casket was placed inside the vehicle.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Monday (April 13, 2026) said the state government will build a music institute envisaged by legendary singer Asha Bhosle.
The Cabinet headed by Mr. Fadnavis also paid homage to the Bhosle, with a condolence resolution being read out by Chief Secretary Rajesh Agarwal. Deputy Chief Sunetra Pawar and cabinet ministers were present for the meeting.
Steps will be taken to build a music institute envisaged by Bhosle, a statement quoted Fadnavis as saying.

Elaborate arrangements are underway at Mumbai’s Shivaji Park for the last rites of legendary playback singer Asha Bhosle on Monday (April 13, 2026).
Her last rites are scheduled for 4 p.m. Friends, family and industry colleagues have been paying their respects at her Lower Parel residence, Casa Grande, since early morning.
A white vehicle, adorned with white and yellow flowers and a photograph of the singer placed on it, will carry her mortal remains from her Lower Parel residence to Shivaji Park in Dadar, about five kilometres away.
Barricades have been set up around Shivaji Park to regulate the movement of people, and security has been tightened across the area.

She entered Hindi cinema five years later with “ Saawan Aaya” in Chunariya (1948). Her work in Naya Daur (1957) brought her wider recognition. Over her career, she recorded more songs than any other female singer of her time. The Guinness World Records recognised her for the most studio recordings. She received the Dadasaheb Phalke Award and the Padma Vibhushan.
Among her most memorable songs are “ Abhi Na Jao Chhod Kar”, “ In Ankhon Ki Masti”, “ Dil Cheez Kya Hai”, “ Piya Tu Ab To Aaja”, “ Duniya Mein Logon Ko” and “ Zaara Se Jhoom Loon Main”.

The last rites of the legendary singer Asha Bhosle will be held tomorrow at Mumbai’s Shivaji Park, her son Anand Bhosle said.
The 92-year-old singer passed away on Sunday (April 12, 2026) due to multi-organ failure at Breach Candy Hospital in South Mumbai.
“My mother passed away today. People can pay their last respects to her at 11 a.m. tomorrow at Casa Grande, Lower Parel, where she lived. Her last rites will be performed at 4 p.m. tomorrow at Shivaji Park,” Anand Bhosle told reporters.
