Foreigner Scolds Indian Kids For Littering, Internet Feels Sorry: ‘We Need To Teach Them Better’

Littering is a major problem in India. Despite several cleanliness campaigns and initiatives, the issue remains as persistent. Food wrappers, cigarette butts, plastic waste, uncrushed bottles and fruit peels are a common sight in almost every street. This malpractice isn't just dampening the county's beauty but also causing clogged drains and pollution, leading to health hazards. But more often than not, people are not willing to change their habits, as proven in this viral video, posted on Instagram by a foreign tourist visiting the country.

The clip opened to a group of kids asking the female traveller what was the name of her country. She, however, thought that the boys were asking her name and shared it with them instead. Soon after, one of the younsters casually dropped a food wrapper on the road, and the woman immediately objected. “You dropped it. You pick it up and drop it in the bin," she instructed the boy, who refused blatantly, waving his hand dismissively.

Kid Refuses To Throw Litter In Trash Bin

When the woman asked why he wouldn't pick it up, the boy stomped the wrapper with his foot in an act of defiance. “It's not okay," she said firmly. Even then, the kid displayed shocking audacity, asking the woman for a dollar, to which she sternly denied. But the drama was far from over. The boys followed her and slammed the same wrapper in front of the woman multiple times, resorting to purposeful disobedience. “It's your country. You're going to live and grow up trash as long as you keep doing this," warned the traveller before the video ended.

Internet Points Out Lack Of Civic Sense

“This is why education is important," read her side note. The Internet was left disgusted.

“I'm sorry you had this experience. We need to teach our kids better," wrote a user.

“That's true, we're gonna live and die in trash because we don't know basic civic sense and don't wanna accept it when we are wrong," agreed another.

“The fact that he's following you and doing it on purpose is WILD," pointed out an individual angrily.

“At least someone is parenting them," noted one person.
