Bangladesh: Fire Breaks Out At Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport In Dhaka, Flights Suspended | Watch
Authorities reported no immediate casualties or major damage. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
A fire broke out at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka on Saturday afternoon, prompting the temporary suspension of all flights.
According to officials, the incident occurred around 2:30 pm near Gate 8. Fire Service spokesperson Talha Bin Jashim told bdnews that nine firefighting units were initially dispatched to tackle the blaze, with an additional fifteen units sent soon after. Talha Bin Zasim of the Fire Service and Civil Defence Media Cell later stated that 28 units were actively working to control the fire, with reinforcements on the way.
An airport spokesperson assured, "All aircraft are safe. Further updates will be shared as the situation develops," as reported by The Daily Star.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) reported that several agencies are involved in efforts to control the fire, including the Bangladesh Civil Aviation Authority, Bangladesh Fire Service, Bangladesh Navy, and Bangladesh Air Force. The operation has been reinforced with two fire units from the Air Force and two platoons from the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB).
As a result of the fire, all flights arriving at and departing from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport were temporarily halted. Numerous incoming flights were redirected to Shah Amanat International Airport in Chattogram and Osmani International Airport in Sylhet.
According to media sources, Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka is expected to remain closed until 6:00 pm.
