Turkish President Erdogan has been at the United Nations General Assembly urged “the issue of Kashmir should be resolved on the basis of the resolutions of the UN”, harping upon a topic that has remained a flashpoint of India and Pakistan.
Erdogan said at the UNGA, “The issue of Kashmir should be resolved on the basis of the resolutions of the UN, for the best of our sisters and brothers in Kashmir, through dialogue, we hope”
The Turkish president also mentioned the conflict between India and Pakistan that escalated after terrorists attacked and killed 26 Hindu men at Pahalgam in Kashmir.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has been accused of supporting Pakistan in the India-Pakistan conflict by publicly backing Pakistan's stance, calling Pakistan a "brother nation," and allegedly supplying military drones and operatives to Pakistan during the conflict.
“We are pleased with the ceasefire achieved following the tensions last April between Pakistan and India, which had escalated into a conflict”, Erdogan said.
India's anger was intensified by reports that Turkey not only supplied military hardware such as Bayraktar TB2 and YIHA drones used against India but also sent Turkish military operatives, two of whom were reportedly killed during operations flown by Pakistan.
This support from Erdogan prompted a boycott movement in India against Turkish products and tourism.
