Zubeen Garg Death Reason Revealed: Singer Died While Swimming, Not Scuba Diving?

Zubeen Garg died due to drowning while swimming off a Singapore island and not while scuba diving, his autopsy report has revealed. The singer, who was in Singapore for the 60th year of the India-Singapore Diplomatic Relations and to celebrate India ASEAN Year of Tourism, passed away on September 19.

Weeks after his death, the Singapore Police Force (SPF) shared a copy of the autopsy report, along with its preliminary findings on Garg's death, to the High Commission of India, on Thursday. As reported by The Straits Times newspaper, sources revealed that the report mentioned that Garg died due to drowning and not scuba diving. More details are awaited.

It should also be noted that the Singapore Police Force had previously ruled out foul play in the death of the Bollywood singer. “In the case of Zubeen Garg, a coroner's inquiry could possibly shed light on the sequence of events leading up to his drowning," Ng Kai Ling, associate director at LIMN Law Corporation, had said.

Meanwhile, several other media reports also claimed Garg's death certificate, issued by a Singapore hospital, also mentions the cause of death as drowning.

Zubeen Garg passed away on September 19. Garg was rescued from the sea by Singapore police and immediately rushed to a nearby hospital. He was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), where doctors monitored his condition and provided intensive care. Despite these efforts, the singer sadly succumbed to his injuries. The singer had travelled to Singapore to participate in the North East Festival, where he was scheduled to perform on the day of the incident.

Assam CID's Special Investigation Team (SIT) is investigating Zubeen Garg's death case. So far, they have questioned several people related to the case. Earlier this week, they also detained North East India Festival organiser Shyamkanu Mahanta and the singer's manager Siddharth Sarma. Both were produced in court and granted 14 days of custody. As reported by PTI, they have been booked under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for culpable homicide not amounting to murder, criminal conspiracy and causing death by negligence.
