‘Why Is He Hiding Like A Rat?’ IndiGo Passengers Kick Exit Door Over 3-Hour Delay As Pilot Refuses To Take-Off
Passengers lost their temper on an IndiGo flight after being kept seated inside the aircraft for nearly three hours due to operational delays. Tensions escalated when some travellers allegedly felt their concerns were not being addressed, which led to chaos inside the cabin. The incident reportedly took place on a flight scheduled from Mumbai to Krabi in Thailand.
The incident was captured on video and shared by author Tarun Shukla on X (formerly Twitter). As per the information shared by him, the flight was delayed because the pilot was nearing the end of his duty hours. He had informed the airline in advance, but passengers were already boarded, and the long wait caused restlessness. The clip shows the growing frustration among passengers inside the cabin.
Passengers Abuse, Kick Exit Door On IndiGo Flight Over Delay
In the viral clip, passengers are seen standing up from their seats, shouting and hurling abuses at a lone crew member. People are seen kicking the L1 door (front exit door) while chanting slogans like, “IndiGo haye haye!" One woman is heard screaming, “Why the f*** is he hiding like a rat?"
A particular passenger repeatedly abuses the crew and continues kicking the door. Throughout the chaos, the lone cabin crew member remains composed and calmly handles the situation despite facing aggression from multiple travellers.

Pilot Strongly Condemns Behaviour
As the video circulated, Pilot Vijay Hiremath strongly condemned the passengers' behaviour, saying: “Absolutely unacceptable. Buying a ticket doesn't give anyone the right to create a nuisance or endanger safety. Indian pilots & cabin crew need stronger authority and zero tolerance for such behaviour. Aviation isn't a bus stand."
‘Put Them On No-Fly List': Internet Slams Passengers
Many users echoed Hiremath's concern and criticised the passengers' reckless behaviour.
One user commented, “The language here is just so crass and sad. I know it's frustrating, but cussing away like this won't change a thing."
Another said, “It's a problem. Most people, especially in India, can't remain calm and resort to verbal or physical abuse just to make themselves feel better."
“3 hours sitting on the ground inside the plane can drive people insane. But abusive behaviour is hardly the solution," someone else pointed out.
“Paise diye hain…Gaadi chala attitude!! Do these dolts realise it's their lives at risk if the pilot is not comfortable? You can be angry and upset, but ye kya hai bhai (What is this?)," a person reacted while a user added, “This is not right. I understand people are frustrated with the delays. But going to hit the pilot or any crew is a breach in security. The action needs to be taken on this."
“Think about this for a minute. These folks are angry because a pilot took a drastic step in view of passenger safety and they are abusing him for it. I hope each and everyone of them has been put on a “no-fly" list," read another comment.
Lone Crew Member Praised For Professionalism
The lone crew member received widespread praise for maintaining composure with an individual writing, “That lone cabin crew member showed exceptional emotional regulation & professionalism. Directing rage at someone who has literally zero control over ATC, weather, or airline ops decisions is misplaced & frankly cowardly. Airlines let their staff become the punching bags."
“If I were the crew, I'd be hiding under the seat. Hats off to her," a viewer added.
Was Any Action Taken?
Following the incident, Tarun Shukla updated that two passengers involved in the cockpit confrontation have been detained for their behaviour.
IndiGo Issues Statement
In a statement, IndiGo said the flight from Mumbai to Krabi was delayed due to several factors, including the “late arrival of the incoming aircraft, air traffic congestion, and the crew exceeding their duty time limits." According to an IndiGo Spokesperson, two passengers behaved inappropriately during the wait time and were declared “unruly."
Following standard protocol, they were deboarded and handed over to security, which caused additional delay, the Spokesperson added. “Meals and refreshments were served multiple times to ease the wait time while our airport team members remained available to assist our customers," the statement further mentioned. The airline emphasized its commitment to maintaining a safe and respectful environment.
