Who Is Rubina Akib Inamdar, Mumbai TTI Who Set Record After Catching 150 Ticketless Travellers In One Day?
Rubina Akib Inamdar is making waves as a ticket inspector on Mumbai's Central Railway. Earlier this year, on February 24, she set a remarkable record by catching 150 passengers travelling without tickets and collecting a total of Rs 45,705 in fines. Her outstanding performance has earned widespread praise, with the Central Railway itself celebrating her achievement on social media.
In a time when ticketless travel is a growing problem, especially in AC local and First-Class coaches, Rubina's diligent efforts are helping maintain order and discipline. Her actions are ensuring that genuine commuters have a smooth travel experience without facing overcrowded compartments.
Rubina Akib Inamdar's Exceptional Day of Work
Rubina Akib Inamdar works as a Travelling Ticket Inspector (TTI) in Mumbai's Central Railway. On a single day, she detected 150 cases of ticketless travel along the Central line. This included 57 people travelling without tickets in the First-Class section, from whom she collected Rs 16,430 in fines alone. The total fine collected by her during this drive amounted to Rs 45,705.
Her achievement stood out as especially significant because many commuters from general compartments often sneak into AC and First-Class coaches during peak hours. This not only creates discomfort for paying passengers but also causes a loss of revenue for the railways.
Central Railway's official X (formerly Twitter) account praised Rubina's efforts, calling it a “record-breaking single-day performance." The post highlighted her dedication and determination to ensure ticket compliance, which is crucial for maintaining discipline and order in Mumbai's busy suburban train network.

People's Reactions on Social Media
Rubina's work has not gone unnoticed. Social media users are applauding her dedication.
A user commented, “Hope you people give a special cash incentive to such performers to motivate her and other staff too. A mere certificate with a Railway seal is not enough."
Another wrote, “Every day, thousands of passengers travel like this without tickets?" Many appreciated her honesty and strong work ethic, with one person joking, “She should be called Rubina Akib Imandar."
Why This Matters
Ticketless travel has long been a challenge in Mumbai's suburban trains. The rise in cases has led the Central and Western Railways to run large-scale checking drives. These efforts are now yielding positive results, as the number of such incidents is gradually decreasing.
With dedicated officers like Rubina setting new benchmarks, the railway administration continues its mission to provide a safer, more disciplined travel experience. Their commitment not only helps maintain revenue but also enhances the comfort of all passengers using the suburban train services.
The Record That Surpassed It
Sudha Dwivedi, a Travelling Ticket Inspector (TTI) with Central Railway's Mumbai Division, rewrote the history quickly on February 28, by detecting 202 cases of ticketless or irregular travel in a single day. She collected fines totalling Rs 55,210, the highest amount ever recorded in one day for suburban ticket-checking.
