Which States Have The Best Holi Weather Today? Check State-Wise Rain And Wind Alerts
Clear skies for some, storm warnings for others – check which states will enjoy perfect Holi weather and where rain or strong winds may interrupt plans
Sunshine in some states, storm clouds in others, this Holi may not feel the same everywhere. With March setting in, weather patterns have turned unpredictable, bringing warnings of strong winds, scattered showers and climbing temperatures.
Parts of northwest and central India are likely to record temperatures 4 to 6 degrees above normal. At the same time, an approaching western disturbance may bring rain and snowfall in the hills and blustery winds across the plains during the festive period.
Delhi-NCR is expected to witness largely normal weather during and after Holi. However, winds may reach 10-15 km/h. Mornings will feel slightly chilly, particularly in open areas, but sunshine will intensify by midday.
Maximum temperatures are likely to hover around 31°C, with minimums near 17°C. No rainfall alert has been issued, though dry winds could create dusty conditions.
Uttar Pradesh will experience contrasting weather patterns.
Eastern districts such as Gorakhpur, Deoria, Ghazipur, Azamgarh and Mirzapur may see light showers or cloudy skies, leading to a marginal temperature drop of 1-2 degrees.
Western UP will remain hotter, with strong afternoon sunshine. Lucknow is forecast to record a maximum of 32°C and a minimum of 16°C.
Uttarakhand will see clear weather for a few days after Holi. However, rainfall is likely to begin from March 8 under the influence of the western disturbance.
Dehradun may record temperatures up to 26°C, while higher-altitude regions will remain cold.
No rainfall has been forecast for Bihar at present. However, increasing temperatures and gusty winds will make conditions feel warmer.
Cities including Patna, Gaya, Muzaffarpur, Darbhanga and Bhagalpur may see maximum temperatures between 32°C and 34°C.
In Jharkhand, wind speeds may reach 15 km/h. Ranchi and Jamshedpur will experience hot days and comparatively cooler evenings.
Lower moisture levels could lead to dry skin and minor health issues.
Weather conditions may shift abruptly on March 4 in Punjab and Haryana, with winds reaching up to 40 km/h. Dusty conditions and light rainfall are possible.
Despite a 2-3 degree rise in temperature, strong winds may create a slight cooling effect. Cities such as Chandigarh, Ludhiana, Ambala and Karnal are expected to witness noticeable differences between day and night temperatures.
Farmers have been advised to take precautions to protect crops from strong winds.
From March 4 to 8, the western disturbance will significantly impact Jammu-Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh.
Higher reaches may receive rain and snowfall, potentially disrupting traffic and making roads slippery. Manali could record minimum temperatures as low as minus 6°C, while Shimla and Srinagar are also expected to turn colder.
Light to moderate rain is forecast for the Kashmir Valley, with cloud cover extending to lower regions. Tourists and residents are advised to exercise caution.
Temperatures in Madhya Pradesh may rise by 3-4 degrees over the coming days. Cities including Bhopal, Gwalior, Rewa and Indore could see maximum temperatures between 33°C and 35°C.
Dry air and strong sunlight will make the heat more intense.
Rajasthan is also likely to witness a sharp temperature increase. Jaipur, Jodhpur, Kota and Sri Ganganagar may record significantly higher daytime temperatures.
Rainfall is unlikely, though western Rajasthan could experience dusty winds. Residents are advised to avoid prolonged exposure to the afternoon sun.
In southern states such as Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala and Andhra Pradesh, maximum temperatures may range between 32°C and 35°C.
Chennai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad will experience strong afternoon sunshine. Coastal Kerala may receive light rain, increasing humidity levels.
Mornings and nights will remain pleasant, but afternoons are expected to feel hot. There are no indications of heavy rain or cyclonic activity at present, though temperatures will continue to rise.
The western disturbance active between March 4 and 8 is likely to significantly alter weather patterns in hill states.
Rain and snowfall are expected in higher regions of Jammu-Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. In the plains, strong winds and cloud cover may temporarily reduce temperatures by 2-3 degrees.
However, this relief is expected to be short-lived.
Most plains are expected to witness clear and dry conditions on Holi.
Delhi-NCR, western Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh are likely to see sunny skies. Some eastern UP districts and hill regions may experience light showers or cloud cover.
Any rainfall is expected to be brief. Strong winds could lead to dusty conditions during outdoor celebrations.
Several parts of northwest and central India may record temperatures 4-6 degrees above normal.
Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh could see maximum temperatures between 33°C and 36°C. While heatwave conditions are not anticipated, outdoor exposure during peak afternoon hours may be uncomfortable.
Health experts recommend staying hydrated and avoiding direct sun during the hottest part of the day.
The IMD indicates that parts of North India could receive above-normal rainfall in March, depending largely on the frequency and intensity of western disturbances.
If two or three strong systems become active during the month, both hill and plain regions may receive more rain than usual. However, rainfall distribution will remain uneven, with alternating dry and hot spells.
Residents are advised to monitor regular weather updates as conditions may change rapidly.
