At Deoria in Uttar Pradesh, people can't stop talking about a Durga Puja with a theme unlike anything seen before. Instead of the usual depiction of gods, goddesses and traditional stories, this pandal focuses on a real-life crime that sent shockwaves across the country.
According to the reports, the pandal is built by the Maa Shakti Club at Station Road and features a large blue drum as its centerpiece. Named “Neela Drum Wali," the display highlights the infamous Meerut murder case in which a woman killed her husband, dismembered his body and concealed it in a drum filled with wet cement.
Blue Drum At The Heart Of Durga Puja Pandal
According to a video shared by news agency IANS, the blue drum at the center of the pandal contains the husband's body with blood marks visible on the outside. The wife and her lover are shown standing outside the drum with weapons. Two cement packets are placed beside the drum.
The words “Do bora cement drum aur lebu ka ho" are written on the drum which possibly references the Bhojpuri song sung by Kesari Lal Yadav.

Prasad Distribution And Purpose
The pandal also features an automatic prasad distribution system which has attracted a large number of devotees. The Maa Shakti Club President Pradeep Kumar Chaurasia explained that the blue drum was installed to raise awareness about the consequences of illicit relationships and to serve as a reminder of how such actions can lead to tragic outcomes.
A devotee visiting the pandal told IANS, “The purpose of this drum is to convey the message that such incidents should never be repeated in the future. When future generations see this, they should learn from it and bring about positive change so that no such tragedy ever occurs again."
