Rishabh Pant To Miss India's White-Ball Tour Of Australia: Report
Star Indian wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant, who last played a competitive match in July 2025, will miss India's upcoming white-ball tour of Australia. According to a report in the Times of India on Saturday, October 4, 28-year-old Pant has still not fully recovered from the foot injury that he suffered on Day 1 of the fourth India-England Test in Manchester, so as a result, he won't be picked for the ODI and T20I series in Australia.
The Indian team will play three ODIs and five T20Is during their tour of Australia, which will begin on October 19 in Perth and conclude on November 8 in Brisbane.
According to TOI, Pant had last month consulted medical specialists in Mumbai. “His rehabilitation is progressing very slowly," a BCCI source said.
It has been reported that the left-handed batter from Roorke, who represents Delhi in the Ranji Trophy, will make his comeback during the home series against South Africa next month.
South Africa will travel to India next month and play two Tests, three ODIs and five T20Is against the Men in Blue.
“Pant's absence in the middle order will be felt during the eight-match white-ball tour of Australia. India surely missed an impactful batter like him in the middle order in the T20 Asia Cup, even though Sanju Samson did a decent job," a source tracking developments said.

It has been reported that the BCCI selectors will meet on Saturday and announce India's ODI and T20I squad for the series in Australia. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are all set to be picked in the ODI squad, but it remains to be seen if Jasprit Bumrah travels to Australia for the eight white-ball matches. According to a report in ESPN Cricinfo, apart from Bumrah, Shubman Gill and Kuldeep Yadav could also be rested for the away series.
In the absence of Pant, Sanju Samson is all set to be India's second-choice wicketkeeper-batter in three ODIs against Australia. Samson last played an ODI match for India in December 2023 against South Africa and scored a century as well.
