Planning To Study At IIT Delhi? These Scholarships Can Help Fulfil Your Dream
IIT Delhi offers a wide range of scholarships and financial assistance programmes to support students from diverse economic backgrounds. The goal is to ensure that deserving students are not prevented from pursuing higher education due to financial limitations. These provisions cover both undergraduate and postgraduate students.
The institute provides Merit-cum-Means (MCM) Scholarships, Institute Free Studentship, full tuition fee exemptions for SC, ST and PwD students, and more than 120 donor-funded scholarships. Depending on academic performance, income status and eligibility criteria, the annual scholarship amount can range from Rs 25,000 to Rs 1 lakh.
Merit-cum-Means (MCM) Scholarship
This is one of IIT Delhi's primary scholarships given to students with an annual family income of up to Rs 8 lakh. It benefits students in BTech, MA, MSc and MPP programmes.
Amount: Rs 4,000 per month
Additional benefit: Full tuition fee waiver
Coverage: About 25 percent of enrolled students
Renewal: Requires minimum SGPA or CGPA of 6.0 and annual income proof
Students selected for MCM usually continue to receive support throughout their degree as long as they maintain the academic requirement.
Institute Free Studentship And Tuition Fee Exemptions
Students who meet the MCM income eligibility but are not included within the 25 percent coverage can still qualify for tuition fee waiver through the Institute Free Studentship. This programme supports an additional 10 percent of students based purely on financial need.
All SC, ST and PwD students automatically qualify for tuition fee exemption regardless of family income. Those with family incomes below Rs 8 lakh may also receive hostel rent waiver, basic mess charges covered and a monthly allowance of Rs 1,000.

IIT Delhi also manages numerous scholarships supported by individual donors, alumni and charitable foundations. Some examples are:

Each donor scholarship comes with its own set of eligibility conditions. Some are awarded based on merit, some are branch-specific and others prioritise students from economically weaker backgrounds. In several cases, students also gain additional benefits such as industry exposure, networking support and mentorship opportunities.
