'Might Work With Humans': Internet Reacts As Scientists Develop Pill That Could Make Dogs Live Longer
The internet is currently divided into two camps: those who would give anything for another year with their “good boy," and those who are side-eyeing the science behind the latest viral medical trend.
As per reports, a new drug could make your doggo live longer. The drug, LOY-002, developed by Loyal, is currently being tested on around 1,300 dogs across multiple veterinary clinics in the US. The internet could not be more ecstatic. The news was shared through a post by Pubity on social media platform X and has so far received over 5 million views.
Scientists have long known that dogs on restricted diets tend to live longer and develop diseases later. LOY-002 is designed to deliver similar benefits without reducing how much the dog eats, allowing it to maintain its normal appetite while ageing more slowly.
The drug is currently being tested on older dogs, and while early results suggest it could extend healthy lifespan by at least a year, the company is still cautious about making broader claims until trials are complete.

The development has triggered a wave of reactions online, ranging from excitement to scepticism.
“Let’s go. My dog is in final year and I’d love one more," one user wrote, while another said, “Super happy the progress on such medicine is going well." Some reactions leaned into humour, with one user joking, “My golden retriever got out and jumped in the neighbor’s pond and ran through his house — can I get a pill to make him age faster?"
Others questioned the science and intent. “Is there any scientific evidence or is that just another money-making scam aimed at gullible pet owners?" one comment read. Another added, “Misplaced priorities if you ask me, where is our own pill that can extend our lifespan?"
Some reactions struck a more reflective note. “Love always becomes a market the moment people fear losing it," one user wrote, while another simply said, “Doggos should live longer than turtles."
For now, the drug is still under review, but the conversation around it shows just how strongly people feel about extending the lives of their pets.
