Mercedes-Benz CLA Electric has launched in India at Rs 55 lakh (ex-showroom) with up to 792 km range, 800V fast-charging tech, multiple variants and features to improve long-distance EV usability.
The Mercedes-Benz India has launched the CLA Electric at Rs 55 lakh (ex-showroom), offering a claimed range of up to 792 km. This is significant for Indian buyers as it introduces one of the longest-range EV sedans in this price bracket, while also bringing Mercedes’ new-generation EV platform to the entry luxury segment. The model is offered in multiple variants with different battery sizes, allowing buyers to choose between cost and range. It effectively replaces earlier entry-level models in the brand’s EV line-up while targeting buyers considering long-distance electric mobility.
The CLA Electric is built on Mercedes’ MMA platform and comes with two battery options. The CLA 200 Standard Range uses a smaller battery delivering a claimed 542 km range while the CLA 250+ Long Range variant offers up to 792 km (WLTP).
The larger battery pack is rated at around 85 kWh and supports an 800V electrical architecture. This enables fast charging, with the car capable of adding up to 400 km of range in about 20 minutes under ideal conditions using a high-speed DC charger.
Performance figures are aligned with everyday usability. The CLA EV can accelerate from 0-100 kmph in about 6.7 seconds, balancing efficiency with adequate performance for highway use. What this translates to in real terms is smoother, quieter long-distance travel with fewer charging stops compared to most EVs currently available in India.
Mercedes-Benz CLA Design Elements
The CLA Electric is available in three variants: CLA 200 Standard Range at Rs 55 lakh, CLA 250+ Long Range at Rs 59 lakh, and a top-spec CLA 250+ Launch Edition at Rs 64 lakh. All prices are ex-showroom figures.
Bookings are open with a token amount of around Rs 1.50 lakh and deliveries for the long-range variants are expected to begin first, followed by the standard-range version later.
Mercedes-Benz is also offering a 22 kW wall box charger for home installation while buyers get access to a growing public charging network of over 9,000 points across India.
Mercedes-Benz CLA Features
The CLA Electric retains its coupe-style sedan silhouette but adopts EV-specific elements such as a closed grille with illuminated star patterns and connected LED light bars at the front and rear. The design prioritises aerodynamics which directly contributes to its high claimed range figures.
Inside, the focus is on digital interfaces including a large integrated display setup with connected features and EV-specific data. The car also supports over-the-air updates and advanced driver assistance systems.
For Indian buyers, the key takeaway is usability. A claimed 792 km range and fast-charging capability make this EV suitable for intercity travel and not just city commutes. However, real-world range will vary based on conditions and charging access outside major cities remains a consideration.
