Success Story: Meet Aditya Patel, A Farmer's Son Who Cracked UPSC, Now Deputy Director Of DRDO
Courage and hard work are often said to help a person overcome even the most challenging circumstances. Aditya Patel from Uttar Pradesh is a living example of that. Coming from a humble background, he successfully passed the UPSC exam and served in the Air Force and is currently employed with DRDO. Let's delve into his success story.
Aditya Patel now works as a Deputy Director in the Armament Research and Development Establishment (AR&DE) of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), playing a vital role in ensuring the nation's security.
Patel hails from Fatehpur district in Uttar Pradesh. His father, a farmer, cultivated rice and wheat when Patel was young. According to news daily Patrika, he spent his childhood amidst village life and farming, receiving his primary education in his village. Despite witnessing poverty since childhood, his father worked tirelessly to ensure financial constraints did not hinder his children's education.
Patel is the youngest of three brothers. One of his brothers continues farming in the village, while his elder brother is a Senior Manager at SBI.
Although Patel graduated and became a teacher, his father had hoped he would become a District Magistrate. Initially unaware of the UPSC CSE exam, Patel sought guidance from his elder brother. In 2017, Aditya Patel cleared the UPSC CSE exam, securing a rank of 919.
According to his LinkedIn account, he studied BA (Honours) in Regional Development at BHU and completed his master's at the Delhi School of Economics.
Patel also provides free teaching at the coaching centre in Mukherjee Nagar, Delhi, where he once studied. He assists economically disadvantaged students in aspiring to become IAS officers by guiding, motivating, and teaching them.

Meanwhile, the UPSC Mains Exam 2025 results are expected to be out soon. It is expected that the UPSC Mains result will be announced in October, though the commission has not confirmed an official date yet. The exam was held from August 22 to 31, 2025.
