During interrogation, Prasad confessed to the crime, stating that he frequently quarrelled with his wife over suspicions about her character and killed her in a fit of rage before fleeing. Police said that during his decades-long escape, he constantly changed locations, living in Bihar, Punjab, Haryana and Delhi.
